martinez:top rank wont expose cotto,not yet

Do not sleep on Miguel Cotto. I like Martinez but I feel he has become a little overrated on these forums. Anyway, Cotto has been there and done it with every type of fighter. You cannot sleep on him, I believe a Cotto-Martinez fight would be close.

 

poor Martinez. few fights left only. He needs big names. Too bad, big names are in the light division.

 

Which is kind of cool because most of boxing history the money has always been in the heavier divisions (MW+).

But the problem is Martinez is a BIG super welter and he is calling out welters. Pac is barely a welter. PBF's ideal weight is south of welter (based on foot speed and hand power).


Martinez is just old too. He knows his time at the top is short. He wants to cash out. Fair. But to say it is cool to call out welters and then **** on other boxers who are recently doing it (JMM, Pac, etc) is beyond ****ing stupid and nut-hugging.

 

Too bad Sergio, you're gonna have to fight someone your own size or bigger.

 

Nah. Cotto is a no win for someone like Martinez. Even in victory.

 

Let Pirog fight Pavlik first and make a name for himself, than it will be both a great boxing and prizefighting match-up.

You people saying its ok for him to call out fighters 2 weight classes below because there is no big names at middle try looking 1 weight class above middle.

 

cotto martinez is the biggest fight to be made at middleweight at the moment.

guess they want to build it up,or want cotto v margairto and dont want to jepordise that with martinez possibly beating cotto beforehand.

i think a really good fight that could be made would be Martinez VS Pirog.
both slick type styles,both got titles,both been on hbo,why hasnt it been made yet? !

also think if winky fought an impressive tune up fight,winky wright vs martinez or cotto would be a decent fight.

 

Think about this! If Hopkins, Taylor, or Pavlik would have called out todays version of Cotto, the entire boxing world would have laughed out loud. Boxing fans and media would have crucified their asses, and rightly so.

Martinez, the linear middleweight "champ," has the unmitigated gall to accuse welters and junior welters of ducking him, and nobody says a word. That is nothing more than hypocrisy based on blind nut hugging.

all three of those guys were physically bigger than him.

martinez is a lmw and is actually fighting above his weigt class. The guy is smaller than Margarito. Going up to smw would be suicide.

I think if there were any other stars at mw hewould fightthem but since there aren't he is obviously calling out the ones in his more natural weigt class.

people think that just because he won the mw championship he should have no problem moving up but he already has moved up and none of that catchweigt bull**** to benefit him either.

 

According to Lou diBella Martinez is a full blown middleweight who cannot make 154.
