Yeah I'm still not convinced that this fight gets made next. Sauerlend owns a piece of Haye for one more fight. I don't know why he would give them a percentage of his fee when he could just fight his mandatory and then fight Wlad.

Personally though, I couldn't care less about Haye's financial situation. So hopefully the fight gets made asap.

 

We seem quite close to getting this fight so I don't see any reason to delay it any further. The fight has been months if not years in the making and there is the danger that people will simply stop caring whether these two fight or not. Nah, no need to wait, just make the fight happen.

 

well, Haye is adamant he is retiring in October, which doesn't leave a lot of time if he wants to unify.

 

Unification overrides mandatories (not that Haye intends on actually fighting Chagaev anyway) and voluntaries (nobody seriously believes Chisora is gonna do they?). There's no need to delay and "build up" this fight any more and risk it falling apart yet again if in fact it's close to being set.

It's time for this fight to get done.

Strict application of these rules may be suspended or modified when the Association deems them justified in its sole discretion to accommodate special circumstances, to unify championships or to establish a Super Championship. In such cases, the Association will consider a request for Special Permit (or Exception) for any reasons including,
but not limited to, the following:

a. To engage in an optional title defense otherwise barred by a mandatory defense requirement, or to fight someone not the mandatory or leading available contender;

b. To fight for a title in a different weight division for the Association or for
another sanctioning body;
c. To engage in a non-title bout;
d. To unify an Association title with that of another organization;
e. To engage in a bout of recognized importance and significance for the
boxing world;
f. To establish a Super Championship; or
g. To extend or otherwise modify a mandatory defense period.
