Brendon Smith, the trainer and manager of Michael Katsidis, has thrown his man’s name out as a possible opponent for WBA light-welterweight boss Amir Khan. Katsidis is coming off a crushing defeat at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez yet Smith has claimed that Michael was not at his best on the night and would be a different fighter for a UK showdown against Khan.

Sounds like they trying to get one last big payday from Khan, even with Khan's Glass Jaw, I don't see how he can lose this fight.

Khan is gonna be hot property now considering how much he generates and his still crackable jaw.

No he doesn't. He had his chances and always failed. He even had the chance to fight Khan but chose to fight Marquez.

Be serious, this fight won't be competitive. Going up at weight, Katsidis will loose all of his advantages. His power has always been overrated. Khan via TKO in rounds 7-12.

If they want Khan so bad, they should have taken the opportunity last August. Even if they had lost then, their desired JMM fight still wouldn't have been jeopardized.

Khan's not obliged to honour their request any time soon.

Katsidis has that left hook, Which we all know by now...
Khan has been hit cleanly with in the past.

Maybe they (Team Kats) think if they land it will end.
& IMO it would be hard to disagree w/them.
(They will defo land at least one Left hook...)

I don't want to see Kats move up to fight Khan. With so many paper belts he deserves to win at least one world title at lightweight along with facing the A-classers before he retires.

But huge props for him to continually trying to fight the best. If he continues to challenge the JMM-calibre type fighters he'll probably lose more than wins, but at least at the end of his career he knows he faced the best and didn't cherry-pick.

Old school-type fighter the sport just doesn't see that often anymore. I think it's sad to see alot of so called "fight fans" who just dismiss him and his challenges.

Methinks the money-hungry nonsense from the guys who "carry the sport" Mayweather and Pacquiao are starting to rot away some of the soul of the best facing the best - not just facing the most marketable.

Anyone can see this is desparation tactics from Team Katsidis. They are just hoping for one last crack at it.

It would still be a good fight as ALL Katsidis fights are. But it wont happen

it would be a very easy fight for khan, way too big, way too fast it would be target practise with kats's style

Make no mistake about it, if Katsidis was in the same shoes and had the same luxuries Mayweather and Pacquiao have, he too would choose to face the most marketable. It happens to all fighters.

Katsidis is behaving like a challenger, because that's all he is. There is no other worth-while route for him to go after, other than chasing the elite. Mayweather and Pacquiao were once like him. But they happened to win their make-or-break fights.

I have no doubt he probably would as well. If I were in Pac's or May's shoes I would do the exact same thing (Note: Being a hypocrite does not make an argument wrong!).

When I said old-school, I meant over 50 years ago when fighters fought 80+ times in their careers, so even the top marketable fighters would face challenger after challenger.

Of course we do get the odd relatively recent-fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and Roberto Duran who were both marketable and also faced challenger after challenger.

We'd have to go back over 50 years to see the big marketable fighters face challenger after challenger.

Not a competitive fight. But a solid payday for Katsidis which he should look for at this point in his career. He isn't getting any younger.
