http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereve...s/1404335_murray_a_star_in_the_making__warren Surely this has to happen now! I hope so anyway!
Good news if true. Ever since Khan left Warren, Warren has really been concentrating on his other fighters, which is good. He has a very good stable of fighters.
At least Warren would get him fights! Not sure who he could beat at LW right now. All the title holders are solid IMO. Soto and Marquez are a mix of technical skills and aggression. Vazquez isn't special, but his three losses have come at higher weights (two to Saul Alvarez, once to Timothy Bradley, all on points). He seems reliable, is top ten rated by the Ring. That'd be the one to aim for, realistically - see how he handles world-class. Going for Katsidis would be fatal right now.
He needs to just fight. Forget the European title and the Eurobots that that brings.... most of the best Euros don't even bother with the title anymore and instead go the intercontinental route. Stick him on the same bill as Mitchell pretty sharpish then get them in a WBO eliminator or something, would be a good fight which Murray would probably win. Then look at an opening for a strap at the back end of the year.
I like Vazquez and, at this stage, he would beat Murray IMO. The drop down in weight has been very beneficial for him. Dark horse of the division for me.
Its funny because you know if he goes with Warren you know he will have a decent tuneup build his profile and then get an eliminator and that is why Warren is the best promoter he can make things happen
I agree. I think he's the weakest of the three titlists, but his losses make him look worse than he is. He's got decent skills from what I remember. That'd be a good article, Kos - about the lightweight titleholders. Don't think many people know much other than Marquez.
If true great move for john, theres mitchell, arthur, rees and limond domestically then move onto the big boys if succesful
The present promoter as done a good job, he's been brit and euro champ, well rated, close to a world fight, the hard work is done, i feel his current promoter is treading carefully with him, as to be strait, in the wrong world class fight, and he looses,.
Probably what Warren's thinking. And Murray would beat him late on in the fight, setting up a Mitchell fight with the winner going for a WBO title, if Marquez still has it by then.
