So WHo exactly is quality opponents? Cain? JDS? Carwin? Werdum? Barnett? Bigfoot? I don't get it, nobody can agree on who is a good opponent. This is why the UFC HAS to cross-promote. This is why I believe they WON"T cross-promote, they don't want to find out there guys aren't the top guys. If Dana cared about MMA as he claims he would let his fighters fight the rest of the world, the rest of the world shouldn't have to nestle under the comfy controled enviornment of the UFC banner.

He hasn't ought enough top ten guys to be ranked higher. Of course he has the potential to be #1, but youhaveto beat the best to be the best.

Unfortunately beating Rogers and Duffee only bring you up a tiny bit in the rankings.

oly beating Brock and a half dead Nog only gets you so far also.

  5. Its funny how Cain is for some very odd reason above Fedor, the same Fedor who has fought the whose who of MMA, Kickboxing, Sambo and Judo. In terms of who has fought the most worthy opponents, it would really have to be FEDOR >>>>>> WERDUM > OVEREEM >>> CAIN

As I'v said before the reality is that HW rankings simpley don't mean very much today with the decline/inactivty of old names and the new names having limated expereince.

Cain, Carwin, Brock and Mir all got there high rankings directly or indirectly from Nog and Randy, both of who's level was highly questionable at the time. To me that really did little to show they were clearly the best HW's in the world, yeah they've fought each other since but someone has to win and bar Cain all of them have looked far from great.

Well the point is I guess is that Fedor only fought 1 worthy opponent in 2010, and lost unfortunately.
And if your ranking them for what they did prior to 2006 lets apply that logic to Cain and Overeem.
Lets start with Reem. His only 'worthy opponenet' at heaveyweight, and Im going by your criteria of a 'who's who', is Mirko Crop Cop. Which was in 2008. And he was disqualified for a knee to the groin. JDS beat Mirko far more convincingly. So how do you rank Reem over JDS? Bearing in mind we are not ranking on skill, prime, or any other criteria excepts for a 'who's who'? Or maybe it's his wins over an MMA who's who of James Thompson, Gary Goodridge and Tony Sylvester that ranks him so high at heaveyweight in MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
So, Cain, the only 'who' on his record is Big Nog. But by going by your criteria of 'who's' then I guess he is in with a shout of being the GOAT. I mean he knocked out Nog and Fedor had 3 shots at it and couldnt get the job done. But Im ignoring common sense here and the obvious decline of Big Nogs chin, and using your reasons to justify it. Lets all ignore the state of how things are in 2011, and just cherry pick reasons to suit our personal agenda's as me and Morono have just done

  8. CrioCop and Nog were a shadow of their former self. If you discount Rogers then you should also discount Brock and Carwin. Really the only two well rounded HW the UFC has are JDS and Cain, both are very inexperienced against other legit top class and well rounded opponents. Fedor has by far the best record out of ANY MMA HW fighter.

moreorless made the excellent point earlier about heavyweight rankings. Inactivity hurting the SF heaveys, and inexperiance hurting the UFC's
Too be honest it is extremely difficult to truely Judge the division until the SF tourny gets underway and JDS v Cain happens

Should it play out like you say and he finishes on a run of Big Foot, Reem, Barnett then Werdum. He really will re-instate the mystique!

  12. A win over AA for Rogers is far better than any of Carwins wins, loosing against the GOAT is far better than loosing against Lesnar, Rogers stood with Fedor for over a round, Carwin didnt even have enough gas in his tank to last 4 minutes.

    Zuffa hype job =
Example 1 - inexperienced Lesnar with very limited ground and standup game HYPED as the number 1 HW in the world
Example 2 - inexperienced Carwin who hasnt shown a ground game, does arm punches, and has limited cardio HYPED as the number 2 HW in the world.

What better wins? Head to head their ledgers are virtually identical. Plus Rogers clearly is the bigger puncher with more KO's.
