    I wouldn't be so sure, he's been stating this date since his BBC days. Also I imagine with an ego like his he has other career plans he wants to move into.

    Retirement is a slipperly slope unless you stick to your plan. You spend 10 years saying you'll retire on a particular date, then you agree to have a fight a few months over that.. and then you get offered another fight and you think "well i've gone over it once already.. whats the harm in another one..." and so on.

    If he was in the twilight of his career and his circumstances were different, then I’d respect his decision to retire. But David is more or less in his boxing peak, he’s popular more than ever, he’s very young for a heavyweight, and he’s operating in a division which he can rule for a number of years (should he get past the Klitschkos). Imagine what that would do for his legacy and bank balance.

    For this reason I’ve always found his retirement plan to be a silly one, regardless of how long he’s been saying it for.

    He origonally said he would retire before he was 30. I don't doubt it was his origional intention but with the amount of money on the table, especially if he did fight a Klitscko and win in September would be astronomical.

    Haye was on Talksport this morning, and said he plans to go into acting after retirement.

    He also said its now or never, with regard to making the fight because of the October deadline. But this contradicts his 'plan', which was to fight Vlad on 2nd July, then Vitali. This would surely take him beyond the retirement date he's determined to honour.

    Personally, and I hope I'm wrong, I don't think he fancies it.
