I am really cut up about this. I watched him box a few years ago and he has always been a gentleman. Bless his soul.

I can't remember who said it, many many years ago when he was still fighting, but my favourite description of Mason was one when boxing journo described him as a "heavy-handed tree stump on a man."

Tree stump of a man, loved that...true too. Gary was the proverbial brick shithouse, looked like he could stand up to a hurricane.

Such a shame RIP. I remember the Lewis fight well and at the time I really rated Gary's chances.

Can anyone remember him on Gladiators? He embarressed the big black guy with those cotton bud things! The gladiator couldnt hit him clean to save his life.

That's a class story, he seems like a true gent. Real shame.

I read in one of the stories about his tragic death how he was regular church goer and how all the congregation loved and admired him. Nice to see, seems he retired and was happy with his life.

    RIP big man.

Great pity, he was an exciting heavy, they say boxings a dangerous sport, riding a poxy bike seems to be no walk in the park, hope he finds a nice stool in the corner of a ring up there to r. i. p.

    Sad news.

Remeber Mason as a Sky Sports pundit back in the 1990's.

But he got the sack cos he swore on live TV.

Dont remeber much of his fighting career - but obvously the Lennox Lewis fight stands out.
