Well, if Floyd wins he will have beaten two future Hall of Famers in one year; one in the top 10 p4p, the other in most people's top 20. He would've also fought in the two most high profile fights of the year. I'm not going by who people think is going to win this award, the winner of the is fight will almost definately win this award.

    Pavlik no question.

Both DLH and Mosley are old work horses. 35 years old. You can't compare that to Miranda and Taylor. Both in their primes.

I agree. If Floyd wins on December 8th, he's fighter of the year. But the only think is disagree with is saying Hatton is a future HOFer.

i gotta go with Pavlik on this one. He fought top tier guys in their primes and won convincingly.

Should Floyd win he is certainly in consideration by beating (assuming) a prime Hatton however it would be at a weight that he likely doesn't belong. *we remember his last attempt at 147* and an older Oscar who is not very active.

Do these two fighters in this situation compare to 3 guys Pavlik has convincingly dispatched this year. All in their primes and all at the weights they were accustomed to fighting at. And again, won convincingly. That also has to weigh in to the discussion.

Honorable mention to Cotto, and Calzaghe

I think it depends on how Floyd wins. If he's impressive he has a shot otherwise Pavlik should get it. Of course if Hatton some how manages to win he definitely deserves it.

I think Hatton is at least equal to Mayweather for that accolade at the moment.Castillo was rated higher at the time of his fight than DeLaHoya was for his.

Well if floyd does win then yes he deserves to be fighter of the year the same way hatton does if he beats mayweather.

It's definately should be Mayweather after he defeats Hatton!

Cotto had good wins, but one of his biggest wins is a Mayweather left over. Mayweather has went up in weight and won his 5th world title, and is now facing a top 10 P4p fighter who happens to be the current Ring magazine Jr WW Champion, and former WBA WW belt holder! You can't go to wrong w/Mayweather!:nono

Yes, the winner must be fighter of the year.

Hatton would have beaten a very good fighter in Castillo and the P4P King in Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather would have beaten ATG De la Hoya and a P4P fighter and an undefeated 140 Champ in Hatton.

I think that's better than beating Zertuche (who the **** is Zertuche), Miranda (who is just another middleweight contender) and Taylor (ok, this is good, but he almost KOed Pavlik).
