World Premiere - Glass Jaws: The Brits

There isn't a payroll to begin with, we're volunteers. That's why the constant whining and demanding from Brits in particular is annoying and doesn't exactly place me on your side. You ****ers demand things as if you personally pay me.

People get angry because some person trolls and we're not there within a minute to delete it. As if we're constantly monitoring every section, and our sole purpose in life is to keep "trolls" away from you and protect your feelings.

I regularly browse this section and haven't noticed any regression. It's clean as ****. Well apart from this thread of course.

Zakman creates a thread, the whining commences, and a mod decides to give the whiners a "**** you". That is all that happened, I think you people are overreacting. Integrity, come on. This is still ESB, have some fun as well.

 

If one individual does it I'm changing his avatar, usually to a crying baby. If an entire forum has a stick up its arse, things like this will happen. In my time on ESB I haven't witnessed a more uptight bunch of people. Threats of suing each other over internet posts, calling a bit out of line opinion a troll, etc. It only happens here.

Seriously I like you UK people, you are very witty and humoristic. But you are also the most uptight people imaginable.

Not exactly my humour either, and I was actually the person who deleted Robs avatar because I found it offensive and not suitable for people browsing from work :good

Not at all mate. But if you approach people like that, don't complain when you don't get what you want. This site is free, we don't get paid, and you're not a customer.

If I (as a 'Brit') were a MOD....and I stickied the ''American Glass Hearts'' thread in General would that be OK?

Of course not....people would be up in arms about it.

Can it really be a surprise that folk are irked about this thread being stickied?


I don't doubt that Moding is a thankless task and I don't envy you it, but I do think that stickying a thread like this just encourages more 'dumbing down' of ESB and that can't be good for anyone.

this tread has got me thinking over the last 30 years what countries have been the weakest in western Europe ,( luxembourg not included ) for me it is Holland and Belgium

Thanks for taking the time to explain the position RDJ, whether we like the situation or not its still more info than we usually get.

However, the Brit forum HAS gotten worse over the last year or so with trolls and aliases.

IMHO is that "the powers that be" seem happy for the Brit section to be run the same way as the General, thats not want we want and, like the Classic Forum, a lot of self-policing has gone on over the last few years to ensure that hasn't happened but theres only so much "peer pressure" can do to keep this forum on the level without more moderation.

If thats not whats wanted by the Admin and they think the Brit section should be run the same way as the General then fair enough, its their site and they can obviously run it as they see fit but thats not what most of the people who post here want.

Just my 2p....
