Why does everyone see this as such a mismatch? Alvarez is being hyped beyond belief but has a long way to go to merit this hype. Remember Victor Ortiz's hype before the Maidana fight? He was being touted as the next Oscar and look what happened.

Alvarez is 20 years old and has a great future ahead of him. He is exciting for sure and his last 2 wins have been good, albeit over fringe world class opponents but does anyone remember that he was almost sparked in the first by the other Cotto only 4 fights ago?

I dont think he is streets ahead of Matt Hatton at this stage and he may be in for a shock if the fight goes ahead. I would go for a close 12 rounder with Alvarez being given the nod as he is the next Golden Boy fighter and will likely always take the close decisions on the way up.

Matty couldnt break an egg with his power, Maidana's power can always turn a fight on its head

not gonna end well for matthew this.

anyone else see a quickfire kayoe rather than a brutal beating?

i expect alvarez to catch him cold, he literally has nothing to fear.

    3 rounds max.

    good thread btw mate!

Alvarez is one of the best prospects in boxing .Probably is the best for some people .Hatton deserves respect for wanting this fight because it could end brutal for him Alvarez's got quality ko power .Would be a huge upset to the boxing world if Matthew Hatton could win this probably bigger than Burns Martinez .

Alverez will apply to much pressure for hatton and will most likely stop him , be good if hatton could win but i just cant see it.

Hatton would look clueless against Alvarez. What weight is the fight going to happen at? That's a good question because Alvarez is really a 154 pounder and Hatton is a 147 pounder.

A great future fight could be Alvarez vs Degale. Alvarez is 20 so still growing and will be at 160 within 2 years in my opinion. Moving up to 168 wouldn't be too much trouble and he would have his pick of opponents. Degale beats him imo.

Don't think it would be so much a mismatch at this stage of their careers.

I'd be really surprised if this happens though, more likely that Matt shows up against a 'battle-hardened, experienced pro who's been in with some of Europe's best' in a leisure centre in Widnes unless they stuff his mouth with gold.

Fair play to him for taking the fight. I think it'll be an easy night for Alvarez, no doubt the Hatton name will prob sell a few extra tickets...

I like the Katsidis Guerrero fight , thats a nice touch that , its actually a really good match up !!!

I like the fact Hatton is just getting on with it , in his own mind he's confident of the level he can operate at and has took advantage of Hatton / GB connection , its the biggest fight of his career without a shadow of a doubt , i think Alvarez is a great prospect who is going places and may just make Hatton look like he doesnt belong in there but props to him for taking the fight .

I wonder if Ortiz or Guzman make this card too ????

I wonder if this is a fight Frank Warren would of took for Brook as well :think ????
