Audley Gets His Full 1.5million Purse for Haye Fight

But he definitely should get his money. No-one forced anybody to buy a ticket. The fight us taught us nothing we didn't already know about Audley, he is what he is. The fact he froze (even more than he usually does) in his biggest ever fight isnt that surprising given the type of character he is.

The various sanctioning bodies probably have more to answer for than Audley.

 

Both Haye and Audley for the first two rounds.

It's not his fault he is terrible and is afraid of his opponent. He was always rubbish and fought like he was scared. He fought no different against Haye. The sanctioning bodies and Sky should have recognised this and vetoed the fight.

Right decision. Bit of a real minefield otherwise...I can think of hell of a lot of guys that might be deducted their purses for lack of effort otherwise.

Heaven knows why anyone was expecting anything different from Audley.

 

I believe fighters SHOULD be fined for putting up crap efforts. I'm sure boxing commissions used to do that, but that was when boxing fans expected to see real fights. Nowadays there seems to be legions of fans who are just zombie muppets. Hey, it's your money.

But in this case of Audley, it wasn't exactly his fault. The fight should never have been sanctioned, he'd been proven beyond any reasonable doubt to be way below anything resembling world class, and he barely ever threw a punch in any of his fights.

 

He should definitely be banned.

The BBBofC has no credibility anyway : it was they who sanctioned the fight.

Everyone involved should be banned really, but the BBBofC and the WBA have lost any legitimate right of authority, they are part of the problem, not the solution.

 

It was a dire showing from Audley but there is no doubt he got hit and pretty much koed.He was rubbish on the night and let people down but he should get paid.Many fighters have turned up and fought badly but still got their money.Audley should be paid.He should put the cash in the bank and then retire.

 

At the end of the day Audley was contracted to share a ring with Haye, bar taking a dive there is no reason why he should get punished.

It is completely hypocritical of the boxing commissions to harp on about Audley not putting up a fight, when they gave the green light to a fight that 99% of insiders knew was an mismatch and easy payday for all involved.

Hopefully it won't happen again on such a scale, but at the end of the day pro boxing is a business and if I was in the same situation as Haye I would have done exactly the same.
