Its all about opinions and we dont know what will happen until they do get in the ring. It just seems strange that after being with maloney for over a year they have not put him in with anyone of any note, maybe peret is the best he has been in with and if he did fight him when he was ill, its not really showing heart its a silly risk and he must not have been that ill or he would not have been able to fight. I would not say Ingleby was a bad or good debut fight, but i do know that tysons uncle trained Ingleby at the time and they would'nt let tyson even spar with him cos they were afraid he would just destory him. As you say just because tyson said price is chinney it doesn't nessessarily mean he is, and if I would have read it in the paper or seen him say it on tv I would have taken it with a pinch of salt and thought he was just on another wind up, but tyson seemed very sure when he told me. I dont know if price is more polish than fury at the moment, if you look at the opponents they have both faced you must agree that fury's have been much better than what price has meet, so thats why it might look like price is a bit more polished against easier opposition who dont fight back. Also when you get someone like manny stewart saying that tyson will be the dominant force in the heavyweight division when the kilitchkos quit, he must have some ability. Hopefully they will fight soon, wont fury have to defend his english title soon? he won it in june and has not had any defences yet so that might be something that can be made.
Ingleby and Peret are alright, decent in fact for opponents inside your first half dozen fights.... but the rest have been utterly terrible, including the pregnant one, Basovs was it? Fury is full of **** but I'd stick my tenner on him beating Price right now..... if David ditches Maloney and gets more active he can have a good career. He folded worryingly easily (if that makes sense) in the Olympics, maybe he was a bit overrawed?
Fury has had the much more meaningful fight and shown more grit so would back him to do what he'd need to do to earn a points win. Can't see much in Price at the moment, which might just be what he's had in front of him but as others have said the level of opposition doesn't inspire confidence.
Cant disagree that Fury has had the better opponents. That is obvious and anyone disagreeing is either a hater of Fury, blindly in love with Price or just doesnt know the sport. And, I agree that you cant really compare the two for that reason. Price's opposition has not been as good as Fury's so you cant compare performances. I just think Price is the better boxer. Dont get me wrong though, if I was managing Price I'd want him to have two more fights stepping up the opposition before putting him in with someone at Fury's level. The difficulty is that it sounds like they cant get anyone to bridge that gap. I'm not interested in them matching up Latvians and the like. So, if you were Maloney, who would you pick for Price's next opponent? I'll probably get murdered for this, but I reckon Baker/Ferguson then Skelton/Rogan then Fury. Larry O could be an option too I suppose? Would certainly put to bed any rumours about his chin if Pricey could withstand a shot from Larry. I remember Frank saying in an interview that they were trying to get him sparring with the likes of Sosnowksi. Anyone know if that actually came about?
Price has better skills than Fury, but needs to be fighting alot more than he has been. I think Price wins by UD tho but does need to be alot more active, he needs to be up against the likes of Sexton,Rogan & Sprott......Fighting all these foreign car washers are not helping his development now, time for Maloney to sort it out
If i was maloney I would go for someone like sexton, who is a decent level would be a good name on the record and is not a massive puncher. Or I would have put him in with Mcdermott, that would have been easy to make cos maloney has both, but that wont happen now as Mcdermott is now fighting Larry O. Or maybe try and bring someone over from abroad who has an unbeaten record or at least a strong record. He needs to be pushed soon rather than later, we can't really call him a prospect for much longer can we? He is 27 and been a pro for almost 2 years. I remember watching an interview with maloney last year and he was saying he can't understand why promoters would throw money at a fighter and feed them tomato cans and then when they do get in with somebody decent, they get beat and all the money invested has been wasted! Only time will tell if that is exactly what he has done.
Id pick Fury at the moment.Things may change as time goes by but right now Fury seems more suited to the pros.
When are all these British HW's gonna start fighting each other, there's loads of decent match ups to be made.
Got to be something wrong with Price's chin. not only are his opponents shitty, he doesn't even fight often agaisnt cans like other protected prospects (Deontay Wilder, for example). I hope I am wrong, because you have to like Price for going into the Olympics and sticking it to Islam Timuriev, but seems like Price is a train wreck waiting to happen.
