Some of it is justified but most of it is just kids playground stuff, some of the so called fans play a part in making the sport a soap opera. I dread coming on here some days just because of the amount of pure bull**** thats written.
The backlash is justified. I understand Haye's behaviour but at the end of the day he is a hypocrite. He claims he tries to give the fans what they want. He criticises the Klitschkos for fighting bums. He said he would bring excitement to the heavyweight division. But it has become clear that Haye is only in it for the money. If you are only in it for the money don't expect people to have much love for you. Just ask Floyd about that.
Yes it is justified. I would have rated Haye as my favourite British fighter up until recently, I loved the way he took on Mormeck on his own patch and genuinely didnt sem to fear anyone. However, his heavy weight career has been an utter farce! I didnt mind the Harrisson fight as it was what the public wanted and it was a good earner. He should have been in the ring a few months after such a breeze though. He is too lazy for my liking and he also thinks he is berty big bollocks because he has a version of a world title- it doesn';t mean much holding an alpahebt strap but he seems to believe he is on par with the Klits who have dominated the division for years. His early retirement is a joke as well- if he wants to get in and make as much cash as possible and then **** off with his health in tact then fair doos, but don't spout **** about your "legacy". He doesn't have a heavyweight legacy at all. If he retires in October he will have been forgotten about as a heavyweight within a year or two.
Some justified, while most are bull**** written by a lot of you here. The less written about haye here the better as it attracts the usual hate comments. Q for you Vlad fans, why is he fighting chisora next instead of haye? And dont give bull**** about why haye cant make 2nd july date.
"I'm a boxing fan first and whenever I'm looking for an opponent, I think who can I fight that the fans want me to fight; who would I want me to fight?" said Haye. "And it's always guys who are strong and big punchers. If I was a David Haye fan, I wouldn't want to see me fighting bums who I know I can knock out. I want to be in there with guys you have to worry about. I know I'm the best fighter in the world, so I don't have to duck or dodge anybody." November 2008 - Monte Barrett November 2009 - Nikoli Valuev April 2010 - John Ruiz November 2010 - Audley Harrison. I don't have to give an opinion on this. That speaks for itself.
No its not... People are too willing to forget that Haye signed a contract that had him in against Wlad, then Vitali and the either of them. He only pulled out of the fight because Setanta went tits up... Since then both Wlad and Haye's approach leaves a lot to be desired.
Since then Wlad fought three top ten fighters and was prepared to fight Povetkin who ran away like a girl. Haye fought one top ten fighter and two rubbish fighters.
I'd agree with you there but Haye has banked very little goodwill over the last couple of years so when he disapoints AGAIN he gets alot of **** for it. There's alot of Hayelords going way over the top on Wladimir on here too.
Yeah thats the thing- each are as bad as the other. Haye has been disappointing- I wish he'd taken on Adamek or even Arreola- just someone who has a bit of "What If" factor around them. The fighters he has fought have been uninspiring- but Wlad is similar to that as well, though I'd rate Chambers and Chagaev as very good wins in a very weak division. Ultimately the division is so weak and even though it should put pressure on them to fight, it feels that there is no massive pressure for Haye and Klitschko to fight as they can both make big money fighting past-it fighters and blown up cruisers until retirement. Where the **** do we go when they all (V+W Klit and Haye) retire? The division looks in dire straights.
The backlash against Haye is seldom aimed at his opponenets but at his percieved role in the breakdown of negoiations with Wlad.
True, but it should really be about all his opponents. All those promises of cleaning up the division, getting rid of all the old has beens and fat clowns who still fill up the top 10 lists is all part of the same problem with the Klit negotiations IMO Even with the Klit contracts falling through there's other fights he could have had to humiliate and expell a few of those bums. Instead he takes the easiest, least active route possible. Monte Barratt - ok for a start but only happened because he was the only one who would fight Haye. Valuev - Easiest title fight going - just a protected circus act with no skill or power. Ruiz - OK but mandatory. What happens when Haye gets a free choice of opponent?.... .. . Audley Harrison - on the back of one last minute desperate win for a vacant Euro title after winning a prizefighter tournament against less than British champ level opposition. Come on. I mean, it was pretty clear Haye was just after building a retirement fund when he moved up as he was already talking about his retirement date (which he will stick to). He doesn't give a **** about legacy etc... he just wants to make money. Fair enough, but if you want paying you have to give your fans something to pay for. He's taken his own fans for a ride and is trying to get the most money possible from giving the least possible to the point where it's almost a con. I won't call it a complete con because he is still getting in shape and stepping the ring against pro heavweights, but he's certainly making a meal out of a mouthfull
Maybe not specifically for this latest incident but it's happened time and time again. He's talked the talk for far too long. I mean, it's been ****in ages since he left cruiserweight and he's done absolutely **** ALL since, conning the general public in the process. Shame because we all know he's well talented (maybe not enough to beat either of the K bros) and it's depressing seeing it all go to waste.
Not really, no. Sure he fought Audley, which was a joke, but other than the big mouth shite when he first moved up he hasn't been that bad. People don't like the fact he's not very active but meh... Pulling out of the Wlad fight first time round, setanta were going bust, the Klitschko's must know that was why he pulled out, they're just being dicks about it, would they have fought for free as well? The loud mouth stuff got him the shortcut to the world title, he fought Valuev. Part of the contract was that he had to fight Ruiz next as he was mandatory so you can't really give him **** for that. Fighting Audley next was a load of ****, but sky were pushing for that for sometime, it made a lot of money and the window of opportunity for that fight was not very big as Audley wasn't going to have that European title for long... The Wlad fight this time round, he gives into all the concessions, agrees a date, agrees to fighting in germany, Wlad says he wants to fight Chisora 9 weeks before. Can anyone really blame him for not agreeing to that? There is no way the fight is going to happen 9 weeks later. I kinda see the Wlad stuff as Karma for fighting Audley, if he hadn't have fought Audley the Wlad fight could have happened around then, but that doesn't excuse Wlad's **** this time round...He is just as bad as Haye and gives just as little a **** about boxing...
