Hatton only had one really good win his whole career.

This is bull**** Earl, really is.
He won his title in France(awesome stuff admittedly) then defends against Maccaranelli whose been proven not to be all that good.

The part of Hayes career that impressed me was the beginning where he moved thru the ranks at a blinding rate.

Since he's moved to world class, and he is a world class fighter, his record (bar a past prime Mormeck) is very uninspiring. Now couple this with his movie aspirations and endless stream of hot air, Haye will be remembered but it wont be for his accomplishments, he'll be remembered as someone who talked his way to a paper belt.


He needs a Klitschko.

Bruno fought Tyson x 2 and Lewis, as you are no doubt aware.... and when past his best beat McCall, who had everything that Bruno would want least in an opponent, stamina and chin.

Calzaghe's record isn't great, but there's still wins over Eubank, Mitchell, Reid and Woodhall in the WBO time, then Kessler and Hopkins were very good wins, especially given that Kessler has since beaten Froch and Hopkins both Pavlik and Pascal (regardless of the spastic judging).

Hatton also doesn't have the best record, but he's beaten Tackie, Phillips, Magee, Tszyu, Collazo and Malignaggi..... only losing to Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Not quite comparable to old Fragomeni, old Mormeck, Enzo, old Barrett, old Valuev, old Ruiz, WBU level Harrison.

 

Your going a bit over the top Besston. Haye and his camps are dicks but his actual level of competition until this year was very impressive??

Fragomeni went on to win the world title. Mormeck had been champ for 5 years, had only lost 1 fight for 10 years which he avenged. Enzo was also a champion. You want fighters to unify the division. So in 3 fights Haye won an eliminator, 2 belts and lineal title and then unified with his main domestic rival.

remind me who Holyfield beat in is first 5 fights at Heavyweight?

 

Cant remeber all of em but im sure there were 2 former World champs Pinlon Thomas and Michael Dokes and James 'Quick' Tillis was always a tough opponent- strange to use this as a comparison. Bonin, Barrett, Valuev, Ruiz and Harrison is not a good heavyweight legacy especially after proclaiming to be the spark that saves the ailing division. You're right about his Cruiserweight tenure tho, should not be discarded when judgin his career.

On thread topic, timing seems fine for the Vitali-Solis winner either of which makes for a very good and marketable opponent with it being a Klitschko which we all want or previous conqueror in the ams. Would beating Vitali (or Solis) be enough to silence Hayes critics tho?

 

Thing with Holyfield is, he had no intention of retiring either.

 

I hope he doesn't retire. At least there's the chance of something exciting happenng whenever he steps in a ring.

I know what will get you lot loving David Haye again asking Chagev the Russian to step aside so he can have a rematch with Audley Harrison best of enemies 2 at the O2. Then if he somehow manages to get threw that a final defence of his title before he retires againts Michael Sprott. However if Harrison doesnt want a rematch how about fighting Roy Jones Jnr Monte Barratt again or Scott Belshaw
