Great fight for Macklin and it will answer a lot of questions imo. Good times for irish professional boxing at the moment.
Between Casey Lee Duddy Magee Possibly Mccloskey and now maybe Macklin all in massive fights i dont think we could have wished for a better start to 2011 for Irish boxing!:happy
no worrys lads simple oversight on rigos visa and time ran out for the plane , its on and signed ,. he will be over for the next presser tba ,more news on tv mon/tue .
Which franchise is Tommy McCarthy after signing with? I thought RTE couldnt air fights that Peters isnt involved in ( casey-rigo) or is that contract finished?
there is a high chance he will on April 16th on the undercard of Khan. Way to soon for Jamie to take a fight like that especially with nothing to fight for if ***an had a title in 12 months time that was up for grabs perhaps it would be worth it
Of the three fight confirmed for March which in your opinion is the biggest fight. Casey v Rigo Magee v Bute Lee v Duddy Personally i think its Lee v Duddy even though its the only one not for a title. If i was to pick a ringside seat for one thats the one id be at.
Right now Duddy v Lee is the pick of the fights but were Casey or Magee to win they would instantly become way bigger.
Amir Khan waits on approval for McCloskey fight This content is protected King hopes for England v Ireland clash WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan will face an anxious wait to find out whether he can take on Paul McCloskey in Britain in April after putting forward the Irishmans name to broadcasters at Sky Box Office and his American TV network HBO. Khan, 24, has ruled out fighting American Lamont Peterson after negotiations broke down over demands made by Peterson and his camp, but the former Olympic silver medallist sees European champion McCloskey as a good domestic opponent. Other names in the frame are Australian Michael Katsidis, who has recently announced he would like his next fight to be on homesoil to help the victims of the Australian floods or Victor Ortiz, who drew with Lamont Peterson last year. The Briton hopes to put a case forward for McCloskey, but its not known whether he will be a big enough draw to warrant a showing on pay-per-view and thats where there could be a stumbling block on any possible match-up between the two fighters
