Really? Then can you explain why Floyd is nearly all that you talk about on here? I like to do a hypocrite check when people say things like this. Take a look at your previous posts.:good You even went into threads that aren't about Floyd and brought him up. I guess you can't be too sick of it, when you are the one doing it... and always seem to want to talk about Floyd. Unless of course, you are sick of yourself?
Floyd has been taking on the top WWs (lineal champs, #1 ranked wws, jww and jmw top dogs, etc.), but supposedly these are fights that 'no one wants to see'!?!?! But the other guy is taking on guys barely in the top half (Clottey), unranked (DLH, Marg), and who looked horrible recently (Mosley), yet these are fights people want to see?
I didn't quote the block of text I was responding to. But it was in reference to the part about Floyd not fighting the best fights or fights that 'people want to see'. It kinda confuses me that someone like Pac, who is "everything right about the sport" and "takes on challenges" has done nothing but fight 2007 Top Rank has beens/never weres (Clottey, Margo) or fighters that have looked terrible recently (Mosley, DLH). Nobody wanted to see Floyd fight the top 140, 154, and 147 fighters? (Hatton, DLH, Mosley) What fights were there instead? The only ones were Cotto and Pac, and there is time for the Pac fight to be made.
The truth is, after he decisively beat Castillo in the rematch, he stopped taking risks. Just take a look at his record at 140lbs, it is atroshish when you consider the competition he had at that time. Nobody can deny Mayweather didn't go to 140lbs to cherry pick Gatti. Around that time, 2004, Tszyu was King, Mitchell was looking **** hot, Hatton was coming up and was a huge draw, Cotto was a terrific up and comer, and guys like Junior Witter and Vivian Harris were getting all kinds of praise. Even the timing is somewhat questionable, because in 2003 the division was even hotter. Judah hadn't made the jump to 147lbs yet and was still widely considered a huge threat, all the while Mayweather was fighting guys at 135lbs like Sosa and N'dou. Now I know many some of these guys turned out to be duds, but at the time each were highly regarded and in the top 10, the risk was ripe. I have no problem with Mayweather going after Gatti, it was a fight a lot of people wanted to see. However he did nothing before or after the Gatti fight at 140lbs to make me believe he serious about taking on real risks in that division. A famous claim by Mayweather is that he can beat any fighter on the planet, but if it doesn't make money it doesn't make sense. Fair enough, but than why did he fight guys like Bruseles or Corley at 140lbs? Or taking on guys like Sosa or N'dou at 135lbs? Mayweather could have been cementing his legacy if he was serious. Never was 140lbs so talent rich as it was 2003-2006, and Mayweather missed great oppurtunties take on the best fighters at their best weights and when the risk was considered the greatest. Say what you want about some of the guys I mentioned Mayweather should have fought like Cotto or Tszyu. Yes they have some losses on their record, but they have losses because they were unshakeble in their desire to fight the best and prove themselves. I know the Mayweather fans are preparing their reputtal, but I'm not the only person who feels this way about Mayweather. Poll after poll conducted shows a clear majority of boxing fans believe Mayweather deliberately ducked Pacquiao (amongst others), and set up the red-herring PED controversy to get himself out of a high risk fight.
Throwing hundreds into a club crowd or ranting a loud, annoying rant on the internet doesn't take years off of his opponents' life. If a fighter were on PED's, he would be.
you cant get up for Mosley vs Floyd but want him to fight Margo???? What the hell did Margo ever show that could possibly trouble Floyd? Pressure? Come one.
I never list Zu as a fight he should have had it just wasnt going to happen not anyones fault. Neither could hold enough for Showtime and HBO to collaborate for that fight.
