Outback fight club SBS 8.30 tonight

CHB im familar, my uncle Rubin Sibraa fought in the tent shows back in the days, got a few good storys about it from the old girl. Personally its not something i have a tone of respect for, its pretty much like having a backyard fight thats somewhat one sided at times, controled and a bit WWF style. Most old timers who fought in the tents did so for one two reasons, a name and money. I dont think the moneys good these days or you would have alot more blokes throwing themselfs at Brophys feet.

Ben, i thought it was funny but yes a walk over, im sure at any stage you could have stoped these guys no worries.

I quite enjoyed the old days of no politics, turn up and fight, not even for the money but just to fight, you remember those days Ben when we were just kids? problem is we are not kids anymore, whats brophy paying? 60$ a fight? i dont rekon id want no part of that, not to mention the WWF style of boxing, guys who want to knock you out and your supposed to take it easy? id be looking to put the spactics away as fast as possible, fark putting on a show to line someone elses pocket, its a seriouse sport in which people have died, it should be treated as such and not a side show ben.

I would honestly feel like a ***** beating up on drunks in a tent show, id feel like some circus act, thats not saying i dont understand why someone would do it as a one off thing such as yourself.

Hows about Burrage in Cessnock instead Ben? lol..1K +travel and accom. 64kg-67kg over 6 rounds.

the tag team video you posted on there you will be able to see that me and James Ellis were takin it easy , making it a bit of fun. yes me and james could of walked through these guys if we wanted to, but its not always the case up here. My last fight was friggin hard at Cracow pub, me and Butterbean (from the doco) v two local punters, they jumped on us and could fight, but i had too get stuck into these blokes and we stopped em in the second round. the tent is all about putting on a show, not allways knocking people out, like i said before, theres been plenty of times Brophys boxers have been beaten. I think you need to see it for yourself to respect it Ty before being so negative about it. As in you fighting in Cessnock, havent we been through all that? Ty you will never turn pro, stop tryin to blame everyone else for stopping you (promoters etc) remember you couldnt fight on my show because you had a sore hand (fair enough), but how long ago was that, 3 x years?? is that what stopped you? do you still have injuries? am i the only promoter in austalia? no thers heaps out there all you got to do is pick up the phone.why dont you go back to the Amatuers then if your cant get a fight in the pro ranks then? how long ago did you have your last amatuer fight? its been a while.....

 

You've been critical of the Cowboy's pro record - then later said they are only fighting drunks anyway. If you rate the Cowboy so poorly, where's the problem in the match-ups?

As Ben said, it's as much about entertainment as anything else.

Besides that it's an Aussie institution that most here at ESB would love or at least appreciate.

 

As has been said, the tents are an Aussie institution and it's a shame they're being disparaged here by our resident worm Ty.

Ty was happy to fight for free as an amateur and recently talked **** about his age being the only impediment to him wanting to go to the Olympics, so he should have no qualms about fighting for $50 or even free.

If he asks nicely he may even be allowed to wear his headgear (and singlet to hide the manboobs) in the tent, if that's what he's afraid of.

If you all saw the video of Ty getting owned in Thailand you'd know why he's not keen on getting in a tent and will never fight again anywhere.

 

Hey Ben, im an old man who knows how to have a good sht stir. I know what Brophys tent shows are all about and each to their own, i dont have to share your opnion on backyard tent fights, ive got a brain and can work it out for myself thanks.

Its funny you mention my hand Ben, Burrgage got a kickboxing fight overseas, japan wasnt it? and he pulled out first, i told you on the phone id still fight with the hand, however not much point being Burrage pulled out. You never contacted me again to fight Burrage as i told you id knock him out easy, so what are you on about?

CHB, do you also enjoy bare knuckle fighting? lol... times a change m8 and people evolve, theres no place in todays society for these tent shows. A country like america that allows steroids amoung other things has banned tent shows. If they were so good and safe why are they banned in so many countrys and states you twit?

Lets take a look at Butterbean for an example, he was seen consuming **** during and prior to his bout, does anyone understand the consequences of doing so and being punched to the head? say it with me people... P U N C H D R U N K.

CHB, Tent boxing is a parasite to the sport of boxing. This insitution you love (Tent circus) started in rural australia around the 1920's. The Queensberry rules were established in 1844. Do you really belive that boxing has its grass routes from Tent circus shows? hahaha

 

A boxing fan not seeing the history & signifance, even in 2011, of tent fighting is just plain odd.

Tent shows emerged after boxing established its routes, rules and regulations. Should we support boxing fights that end in deaths in todays society simply because it was accepted thousands of years ago or have we evolved somewhat as a race on this planet? i would like to belive the second of the two.

 

Brophy's troupe are the last tent boxing troupe remaining. They've been at it for over 30 years, and do you know deaths they've had in their tents Ty?

 

Don't knock it unless you tried it I say. If Blairs such a push over mate you should come up & move around with him in the tent for 3 rds. I bet your attitude towards him will change very soon. And you want to talk pro records put yours up sport. You must have one hellavu record the way you pull others down.

TCboxa sounds like are you scared to fight.i weight 62kg and have fought guys 90+ in the tents.love the a adrenaline..get way mor hyped up in the tents then i do when i step in the ring.theres nothing wrong with it mate..sorts the men from the mouse.

yes Burrage did take another fight Ty, and do you remember me saying i will find another opponent and you said no? you said if you were not fighting Burrage you did not want to fight because of your hand. then all the **** started how you reckon that people were saying you had pulled out against Burrage, all i said when i was asked about the undercard was i had Ty Cerminara fighting on the undercard but he is out with an injured hand. i was asked who he was matched up against and i said Ben Burrage. After all the crap why would i bother putting you on my undercard? you wouldnt draw a crowd in Cessnock! you live what 8 - 10hrs away? i was only puttin you on as a favour for you! Do you remember last time you fought on my undercard???? wasnt real good was it............i remember a certain someone coming into my change room toilet spewwing his guts up after recieving a fair belting...

 

I cant be bothered getting into a long arguement... But Ty, there's planty of good associated with these shows. Firstly, at the Birdsville Races- and Country Fairs that have graced the red outback earth for 100 years- plenty of booze would encourage violence amongst men. With the tents available for those who dared, or were dared by pissed mates, then less likely violence would be in the surroundings. Ty.. bullies dont like to prove themselves... they like to pick on weak individuals. Hence, they hang at train stations, and not boxing gyms.... or fight tents when available. They'll also bite their tongue until the show moves on.

Another aspect is the introduction to the game of boxing for such men as Ron Richards, Elley Bennett, Alphie Clay, Jack Hassen, Jackie Ryan, Georgie Bracken and literally hundreds more. Via the travelling tents shows, many of these guys were 'spotted' by fight figures and offered lucrative contracts with Stadiums. They would become household names, respected as humans and earned large wads of cash. Without the tents, those who went on to great things, would have been picking peanuts at Kingaroy for a living.

Just remember that Aboriginals have had doors to our white arsed society opened to them, due to their great sporting talents. As boxers, they've excelled, proved themselves equal or better than us, and forced our own brains to accept them as more than a colour... mate, this nation owes the history of Tent Fighting a great deal, and a good pat on the back.
