Even though Casa eventually took 2 out of 3 vs Chico? You believe without doubt that Corrales was the best? Hernandez, yeah a former great champ but it was the last fight of a 14 year career and a younger Hernandez might have done better. Casamayor was relevant and had abelt. Freitas later beat casa and had a belt when Floyd did. I gotta say they were worthy opposition though certainly Floyd's best is at 130. He'manaed to do LESS at each division thereafter:yep Plus? Chico was ****ed up, cuttin up, and on his way to jail so it wasnt the best of Chico even at that. Note they came back down in weight to get that fight. There was someone at 35 they didnt want to fight yet
1.occurring or coming later or after (often fol. by to): subsequent events; 2.following in order or succession; Nice dodge of definition 1, which was obviously the one I intended :good So, do you deny that Floyd left questions marks in every single division he left? And please don't bother to make a straw man argument out of this point by saying that that would mean that not fighting Joe Bloggs would be leaving a question mark. Casamayor was a viable opponent when Floyd left the 130 pound ranks, and he could and most likely would have performed better against Floyd than what Corrales did.
Fighting those guys would have rounded out Lewis' resume more, but it's hardly a tragedy that he didn't fight them. Same here for Floyd and Casamayor (though Casamayor was a better fighter than those heavies), but the point is that Floyd has left question marks through every division he has 'conquered'. How many quality opponents has he left in his wake? Almost as many as he has fought.
What are you talking about , do you follow the alphabet titles ? He beat Genaro Hernandez and then beat Corales at 130 , they were the 2 top-rankd 130-pounders at the time , the winner of that fight made him the reall champion. THen he beat the real champ at 135 , he wasnt champ at 140 , because Hatton was the champion then. He beat the lineal champion at 147 (Baldomir) , then beat Oscar at 154. You have a lot to learn about championships
Lineal = dog ****, perhaps you should EXAMINE Titles more closely. Its a **** poor system with unspecified methods and more vacancies than champions. If You buy into it? be sure to worship Zsolt Erdei as well. lineal is hardly any indication of being the champion. In today's convoluted world there's supposedly six major belts per division. BA, BC, BF, BO, Lineal, and Ring. If anything? Ring holds a current shade more, the rest are equal in nature. You're excuses MEAN NADA:nono Let Floyd prove it at 47, its the ONLY WAY HE CAN CHANGE THE FACTS:yep
LOL!!!!!!! BALDOMIR! Journeyman at best, Judah was found out as over-rated rubbish don't start talking up wins over guys who have been shown up as ****.
Personally I just think Floyd went on a hiatus from 135lbs and on. He is making it up now with hatton and also if he fights Cotto. Those 2 fights will shut this thread up (if he can win). But Honestly anyone in the right mind knows Castillo got the better of him in the 1st fight. Floyd clearly won the rematch but they're 1-1 and after that Floyd has completely hand picked his opponents. He should have fought Ricky Hatton right after Hatton beat Tsyzu. Or at least go for Cotto at 140. And no matter what anyone says, Floyd WASN'T the best at 140 and he isn't the best at 147. You have to actually prove yourself against fights AT the ACTUAL weight you are on. I mean, Felix Trinidad SMASHED people from 147 to 154, But did anyone consider him the best at 160 because he beat Joppy? No. So Anyone who considers Floyd Mayweather the best at 147 is a true NUT HUGGER. I think Floyd is the most talanted fighter at 147 (in all of boxing actually) but that doesn't make him the best at 147 or any given wieght division. 147 is WAY TO BIG to claim you are the best its absolutely crazy to think that. I don't care how inferior you think Margarito is than Floyd or any other boxer you think is inferior to Floyd. Plain in simple, no one will be the "best" at 147lbs until all the fights get made and all those f'king belts get UNIFED. :deal
Thats whay i am saying , can you read , the only title i pay attention to is the lineal title , which is the ring title , the alphabet titles dont mean anything to me (no matter how established they are) there can only be one real champion per division. Dont you know what lineal means. You look really stupid now
True , Baldomir is not that good , but he was THE 147 CHAMPION at the time , so Mayweather did the right thing by beating him
C'mon man. Floyd tried not once, not twice, but THREE times to get a fight against Hatton at 140. All 3 times, Hatton declined stating he wasn't ready yet. What more do you want Floyd to do? Jesus Christ. No other boxer is held to as high as standards as Floyd. He can't beat every top 10 contender in EVERY FRICKIN weight class. It's already been proven that at the very least, Floyd has taken on the top 2 contenders at pretty much each weight class except 140. And I just said why he couldn't take on the best at 140. This is getting kind of ridiculous now.
AND why do you think that is?????????? He has a big ass mouth and he claims he is the best. Not only the best now but he claims he is the greatest of all time. So his stupid ass needs to accept all the hate and questioning and the high ass standard that comes along with that. Floyd ****s himself in the ass every time he opens his mouth. And I DO agree that the standards are high when looking at Floyd but he DESERVES IT! If he was a quiet humble dude, people would give him so much more credit but because this guy is here running his mouth saying hes the GOAT then we deserve to call out the fact that since his 2nd fight with castillo he hasn't fought anyone to tell you the honest truth.
You prove you're the best when you take high risk fights, maybe even high risk low reward fights. If Floyd went out and fought even kosta Tszyu after lossing to Hatton instead of Gatti I'd give him 500x more props. If Mayweather would have fought Margarito over fighting Judah I would have given him his props. God forbid Baldomir (which baldomir deserved the pay day anyways) so who cares about that. But what im saying is that If you even claim to the notion that you're the greatest of all time then CLEARLY, there was an alternative path that Mayweather could have taken. And really Mayweathers loud mouth ass deserves the high standard that we put on him.
When I said high standards, I meant impossible standards. Sorry. Zab Judah WAS that high risk, low reward fight. A focused Zab Judah is dangerous. It wasn't even necessary for Floyd to take such a fight but he took it anyway. If Floyd hadn't fought Zab, would we have people here saying Floyd was ducking Zab and Zab has the "tools" to beat PBF? I think so. I know so. I'm not sure about the surroundings of a possible Kostya Tszyu fight but most fans don't think Floyd was ducking him. I'll take their word for it. Baldomir was the welterweight champion at the time. I don't need to say anything else.
There was a huge rivalry between Floyd and Zab. Floyd had to fight him. Floyd-Gatti winner was supposed to fight Hatton-Tszyu winner. Hatton refused to fight Floyd, several times, in 2005. He wanted to establish his name first. After the Castillo win, Hatton was a big name and ready to fight Floyd. Arum also didn't want Cotto near Floyd. He didn't allow Floyd-Cotto to happen in 2005.
