i'd love to see him make a bhop-like comeback
honestly i'd love to see him fight pavlik again. The current version of KP is not was it once was. I was at the fight in CT when he faced a very tough undefeated froch, and honestly he looked pretty good agaist a top level guy.........until the 12th rd of course.

The same thing happened against Abraham - was that the trainer's fault too? Or did he just not have the stamina, chin or concentration at that stage of his career?

I have a feeling the demise of JT wasn't due to running on a treadmill.
He rarely had stamia issues, as much as defense and chin issues. Running outside wull not improve your chin.

JT was shot to **** by the time he fought AA. Extremely gun shy, and rarely used any of his best weapons. Abraham did not fight Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor. He fght JT's corpse.

Taylor always came to fight and I can't hate on him for that... but ATG bound? I think not... he was an HBO hype job and his reign as middleweight champ was unimpressive at best. He fought 3 junior middleweights in a row: Umo, Wright and Spinks and when he finally fought a true middleweight contender he go KTFO (Pavlik). I wish the best for Taylor but I hope he stays retired for his own health and well being.

jermain taylor wasn't mentally tough when the pressure built up... he breaks down when it gets to hot in the kitchen

Very good fighter but far from "close to being an ATG". He lacked Ring IQ & stamina, not chin. Abraham, Froch, and Pavlik gave him good shots before stopping him in the later rounds. He just couldn't pull it together in the last rounds and I think his jitteriness was also his downfall and possibly the reason his stamina was poor. It's a shame what happened to him as he seemed like a good guy and wasn't scared of challenging himself. I wish there were more fighters willing to fight the best like him & Vargas there would be many very good/great fights and a whole lot less of ducking.

On Januay 3rd Ozell Nelson said he and Jermain have parted company, and Jermain is back wth Pat Burns as head trainer. No word on a specific plan.

I end to agree with you, Ward is like a young Hopkins. I think Taylor would have the blue prints to beat Ward.

    Style makes fights!

Agreed. Stamina was his big problem i reckon. Also somehow mentally he wasnt able to hold it together at the top level for 12.

:huhFellow American, Kelly Pavlik beat him first before Froch and Abraham did. Needless to say he was a hypejob and even me as an American I get sick of it. :lol:HBO announcers were saying Alexander may become a top pfp fighter and he got exposed by Kotelnik that night! Why don't people in America just let their fighters grow instead of hyping them up so much?

Lost otherwise competetive fights due to folding in the end of the fight. Blaming mysterious rouge fatigue.

He was talented for sure, but I honestly believe he lacked a solid work effort, fight after fight he continue to show his lack of stamina in the later rounds. Now, I think he has just lost motivation.
