Pacquiao Vs Mosley To Be Shown On Showtime/CBS, Not HBO!

might do good buisness by showtime standards , also frees up more hbo money

i have very lttle interest in the fight but casuals 9and in terms of ppv they are the most important) mosley can be built up into some kind of monster again even though its clear hes goosed

 

Thought this was coming when I read this the other day:

 

Can see it benefiting PPV sales actually.

It will be a Showtime PPV but Showtime is a part of CBS which is a terrestrial channel. Therefore, any 24/7 type show will be on terrestrial US telly whereas HBO is premium cable (subscription). So you've got a lot more people exposed to the hype and build up to Pac/Mosley.

This is Arum's way of sticking two fingers up at HBO

 

I don't get it though, they were fighting over the March 12th date, why couldn't one of those events just be moved a weekend forward or backward? How come there only seems to be few dates in the year for big events?

 

Arum's a truculent old ****er. He takes tantrums at people, but Top Rank are one of the few promoters who build local attractions. We'll miss the best of them when they're gone.

That said - the lack of Cotto/Mayorga and Pac/Mosley on HBO PPV is no loss to anyone. Plus it'll be great to hear Showtime's superior commentary crew covering those fights.

I might be alone, but I think Cotto-Mayorga will be fun. It's basically a decent money tune-up for Cotto's next fight. I can see him trying to unify or get the rematch with Margarito.

 

Arum'll be dead in a year anyway. Hopefully.

If Arum dies it doesn't mean Top Rank's going to disappear.

And Showtime commentary pisses all over HBO's most of the time and they put on better fights with a smaller budget.

 

hbo's doing what we would do , turn down bad fights with big names because theyve been burnt before . these fights will still sell so its really only hbo missing out

 

That's our only hopes of things getting better though.

 

His son-in-law, who's a little less difficult, will take over. He's very forward-thinking. But the experience about building fighters seems to be lost at the moment - though GBP are doing a good job with their Fight Night Club in LA.

I don't think it is rubbish, Mosley has a decent chance. The fight will be a lot closer than expected, could even be FOTY.
