it was the manner in which he beat Smith though. For a fighter who hasn't had that many fights it was a top quality performance.

However what De Gale proved that night, he didn't prove what Grove did against Anderson and visa versa.

He did it in the manner that was expected. The only difference was that he scored a stoppage (which a few people, including Gaz, predicted too).

I'm not saying it wasn't impressive - it was - but it's not like Holyfield beating Qawi after 10 fights and 23-years old.

Agree with you entirely about the second part. DeGale got a guy that was made to order and Groves got a guy that posed him some stylistic challenges.

But George needs to bring his hands up. As others have said - fine dropping your hands when you're a lighting-fast bomber who make opponents wary of throwing, but not when you're a decently skilled, decently powerful boxer-puncher who needs to be more methodical.

No i think it was a distinct possibility he can get on any undercard he wants in the next few months for goldenboy.

Yep, the Alvarez-Hatton undercard was mentioned.

Groves-DeGale will end up going to purse bids so no worries on that atm.

i think for degale to fight groves atm is a step down

i don't buy into the **** that degale-smith was over matched at all, smith was the man with the strap, smith was the man to beat, and when you compare experience, I thought smith was gonna be a much tougher fighter for degale, but he KO'ed a good, tough opponent in excitable fashion. degale proved his own words... it's all about levels, and he is a much higher level

however, following groves last fight, he showed he was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy to hit, and degale will be laughing all the way home if they do fight

Totally agreed. He has regressed if anything and it's not to do with stepping up in class, it is that he looks more and more like he is doing a Haye impression. Booth might work great for Haye but that does not mean he is right for other fighters and Groves would be better off moving elsewhere.

Smith is a hughley limited and was over rated as a fighter. Anderson would have beat Smith no doubt.

Easy win for degale against groves. Booth and co are doing the right thing ducking degale. Degale was awesome against smith and really found his form. I see degale putting groves on his arse a couple of times before stopping him mid rounds. Beats groves in more devastating fashion than he did smith.
Don't bother with the ugly kid no mark degale

DeGale is at least a couple of leagues higher than Groves who looked like he could be sparked at any moment during his last few fights...Whereas DeGale just looks to be getting more and more impressive as the quality of oppo is stepped up.
There were some people on here saying Smigga was gonna smash DeGale but he proved just how good he could be with that performance imo.

Hopefully Groves-DeGale will be another London show! Can't see why not, this would sell for sure...
