Seems too coincidental that he spend weeks wining and dining Floyd and now we have Cotto vs. his boy Mayorga in a fight that Cotto should win and look pretty good doing so. I think Mayweather-Pacquiao is not in the near future and Mayweather would probably love to fight Cotto after he beats Mayorga, just as he did Oscar after he beat Mayorga for the same reason. It gives the immpression that they had/have a lot left in the tank and are at their best. Cotto KOs Mayorga, Mayweather-Cotto is next.

In the meantime Pacquiao drifts away more and more into politics and after nearly 18 years and 60 fights as a pro, Mayweather would be more willing to fight him in late 2011, early 2012. Then again, there might be a better chance of the Mayan profecy conimg true than these two ever stepping through the ropes to fight each other.

That would be the logical thought, but Arum and King are working toghether on this fight which is strange in itself, given that Arum could have put Cotto in with plenty of other fighters than Mayorga. All the time King spent with Floyd some kind of verbal agreement was probably reached imo. I think they are just letting us simmer for now and get Cotto back in the position he was pre Margarito.

The game isn't about credibility at this level. It's about making a profit.

emmanuel fought marg and is going to fight Mosley
Cotto is going to fight Mayorga

But do you think this could be leading to Mayweather-Cotto instead of a Cotto-Margarito rematch?

I think a Cotto fight should only be a tuneup for Floyd. The fights we all really want to see him in are Martinez, Amir, and emmanuel.

    I rather watch Cotto-marg than Floyd-Cotto

Cotto just like pacquiao doesnt really have a say. they are those "fight who is lined up" type of guys.
Bob makes the decisions. He already said margarito gets the mayorga cotto winner. If he eventually fight floyds it will be after the margarito fight in november.

Cotto-Mayorga, If Cotto wins Vs Margarito, then Vs Julio Ceaser Chaver Jr at 160, then whoever wins that Pacquaio will face for hes 9th world title.

Bob Arum will gladly crash the world of Boxing into the Sun before doing something where he isn't guaranteed to come out ahead. He learned his lesson from Mosley-Margarito, he lost money on that.
