Former two-time world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, who spent 12 days in a German hospital after sustaining a wicked, 12-round beating at the powerful hands of current world champion Vitali Klitschko in October, is fighting back. http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/briggs-files-major-lawsuit-73472
Man, Briggs face is messed up in that pic! This content is protected I sure hope he gets paid, he definitely deserves it!
That is ****ing bull****. I hope Briggs wins...i couldnt believe he stayed on his feet. Puts Kevin johnson to shame
people are messed up. so greedy. he deserves his money. he showed a lot of heart. good luck shannon briggs.
It sure is. I've made a heck of a lot less than Briggs in my career, and there's no way I'd take the beating he did for only $25k.
I don't know anything about the standard boxing contract, but I wonder who Briggs thought would be responsible for paying his medical bills in another country? This is the kind of **** that you'd hope would have been worked out in advance and explained to the fighter.
That really sucks for Briggs. I hope he has a good lawyer. Obviously he deserves more than $25,000 out of the $750,000 purse he received. We just don't know what was in the fine print.
I doubt 12 days in the hospital as a foreign guest is cheap. I'd like to think that there are health insurance options for this kind of thing, but who knows. The Finkel stuff as CEO of his company is interesting, though. That dude has his hand in too much ****. This profession is too small.
$725,000 would shock me but low 6 figures in a foreign country without any insurance for a 12 day stay in a hospital plus surgery wouldn't surprise me one bit. I don't know anything about the Germany medical system, though, so I would be OK if I were wrong. Who knows how else the purse was divided.
Briggs has spent whole carreer (since split with Marc Roberts) pulling moves on people, and managing self. He jumpe dship on a lot of people, and always was good at one thing, promoting himself. No need for lawsuits, bills will be picked up. If not, how can he blame others? He manages self, has done so for years.
