he had that 1 fight with thaxton back in 08 and then he went missing, i think its safe to assume he's packed it in as far as his boxing career is concerned its a real shame as well he really pulled a Few upsets against some decent Lightweights from these shores, he would have gone on to atleast hold a world title its sad to see he underachieved
Soon after Thaxton he was down to fight for the IBF title in the US but then had to pull out due to visa issues or something. Since then haven't heard anything about him which is a shame as he was a good fighter.
I read his manager (possibly ex-manager) say something along the lines of "Yuri went to America and I haven't heard from him since. I guess he is over there spending all his money" This was a few months ago now though. He just really fell off the radar
i remember when this guy fought thaxton and i thought he looked a very very good fighter that was getting better, shame
khan would have gotten murked had he been unfortunate to fight him, i know they were talking about that fight In 2008, But That white boy Frank warren would have none of it and offered him a shot graham earl/former 126lb IBF champ in place. Khan was lucky he didnt face off with him as i'm sure he would have delivered a prescott esque loss which wouldn't have been that bad as romanov is a decent fighter unlike Bredis prescott
Last time I knew about Romanov was he had to meet Fernando Angulo from Ecuador, but it didn't happen.
