This is a distinct possibility. If he can make 200 correct and comfortably his power should certainly be enough to hurt and stop the frenchman mid to late.
Gonna be hard, Mormeck is dangerous when he plants his feet and lets rip with those overhand rights, they're just perfect to get past Haye's lazy low left hand. But to be honest Haye is younger, much bigger, much stronger and I think should just about have the edge. This could be fight of the year, David Haye is NEVER in a boring fight.
Mormeck is past it now and he could be a bit demotivated since it's not the fight he wanted : he wanted a shot at the undisputed title against Cunningham. From what I saw of Haye against Mock, Thompson and Fragomeni he is a very promising prospect with much power but he seems fragile and it could be a problem against a pressure boxer like Mormeck. Guys who think Haye is too tall, too skilled, too powerful and that Mormeck will be unable to find the target never watched a fight with Mormeck. Skills : Mormeck boxed good technicians like Virgil Hill and Dale Brown and he had no special problems to land clean punches. Hill and Brown have good jabs, they were able to avoid/counterpunch guys like Brudov or Bell but they were unable to do that as efficiently against Mormeck. If Mormeck was really such a 1D boxer he would have struggled as well. Size : Mormeck fought at middle at amateur. He is a natural LHW who came at cruiser cause Acaries would have never given him a shot at Girard's WBA LHW title (Mormeck never signed with Acaries...) Mormeck is small as a cruiser and he has always fought taller guys : Braithwaite and Bell are taller guys who can punch and Mormeck was able to land his own shots. Bell hits very hard but even in their first fight he had to take punishment in the first rounds. It won't be different with Haye and I think he will have to be ready to take punishment if he really wants the win. It seems Haye likes to talk. Mormeck won't talk but he will come to fight, he will be prepared by Giachetti and the fight is in his hometown. Haye is young, overconfident but I don't expect an easy victory. If he really thinks Mormeck is a warm up before a move at heavy he will be surprised...
Mormeck is a smart fighter. But Haye has a good str8 right hand with a lot of power. He has nothing else truly powerful in his arsenal. He will live and die on it. I think Mormeck will notice that he likes bombing away with that right hand and he will put himself in position to counter with his own. If Haye can take it, he will win. But if Mormeck gets past his lazy jab and not intimidated by his size and goes right at him he can stop Haye. Should be an entertaining fight kind of like bull/matador but the bull is the smarter fighter.....:ko
[YT]QOF0XLBhfbo[/YT], I wouldn't call the jab Haye used here lazy but you're right in the fact that the staright right hand really is Haye's money punch . He can throw a decent uppercut with either hand too though , and works the body well with both hands .
