Williams vs Platov: What a brawl!!!

Notice how Platov stopped doing anything when he got cut. That was the problem, the cut. Before he was whooping Williams.

Come on, he is a proffesional fighter, he wasnt so ****ing exhausted after two rounds that he couldnt fight. Platov has a weak mind set and was ready to quit when he got cut.

 

sean, don't you think it was fair to stop the fight and call it NC? (accidental headbutt cut)

 

british fighters always get caught out on the continent when this happens.

glen catley and haussler springs to mind.

in the uk accidental headbutt or punch, you get stopped by the ref you lose be it round 1 or 3 of 10.

the cut was definatley caused by an accidental headbutt in this fight unlike catley v haussler where it was definatley a right hand from distance that was somehow construed as a headbutt.

 

Doctor recommended a stoppage and the ref obliged...I think

 

Too bad....I really wanted Platov to win. They should have a rematch

 

It was a headbutt, you could clearly see it on the replays. What should the ref had done ?

 

so according to the rules, since it was before the end of the 4th///it was a NC, right?

 

I think sean has more of a problem with Platov's mental toughness than the technicalities of the rules and how they were applied.

What happens to Williams from here?

 

no if the corner had stopped it , it would have still been a n/c

ref persuaded the doctor to stop it not the other way around.

Corner knew nothing. They were going to devise it on the fly. They were talking like due to accedental butt there should be only 4 rounds.

It was clear he could continue and if not it's not because of the cut. And ref could stop it only on doc's behalf. Sure doc is in.

 

in the uk this would have carried on.

the cut , definatley caused by an accidental clash of heads was to the side of the eye ,

it was platovs reaction to the sight of his own blood and reaction afterwards that was poor.

he even went down in the second not because of a punch but because of the cut.

after that the fight was fought in short burts with williams getting on top as platov has the mind of a class bully.

he is very much an on top fighter .

it made sense for the corner to stop it , but the ref new the rules and helped out the promoter when the ukraine corner did not even if the american man whoever he was in the corner did and advised his charge be pulled to get a n/c.

in america this is a rule as well, only the uk that it does not apply.

the cut was flowing but i have seen much worse .
