I thought MMA was supposed to be a breath of fresh air comparison to boxing. But they seem to have adopted the worst aspects of boxing and world wrestling entertainment.

And that is to have loads of different organisations, that refuse to allow fighters to fight the fighters of other organisations. When this isn't allowed to happen the idea of someone proclaiming they are the world champion is a joke, what they mean it's that they are the best of their own travelling tent show organisation.

Overeem will continue to look devastating until he meets someone who is more substance than style, like Fedor. And even then, he will kick Fedor around the ring for a while, look like an unstoppable monster, and then Fedor will suck it all up and land the decisive punch, and it's good night Vienna. Overeem is a fearsome fighter, but he does not possess the mentality of an MMA ATG like Fedor or Big Nog, who stay calm even when under pressure and shipping punishment, and produce the goods when it counts. That's JMO, anyway. Overeem will lay waste to all but the very best, where he will be "found out" to an extent.

As I said I don't think chin was ever an issue, look at Overeems loses and show me a match where he was dropped or rocked by anything besides big shots.

The issue in the past was a lack of defence and lack of heart, both of those clearly seem to have improved. His defence has obviously improved and we've seen him come back from being rocked in K1, indeed even vs Hari and Remy he did not break in the fashion we saw say vs Chuck, Lil Nog or Sergei.

His cardio clearly seems to have improved to me aswell goign from K1, whether its due to the lack of a cut or fighting a more measured style I don't know but he's gone 3 rounds without gassing twice.

Honiestly alot of that was hype, promoters(the UFC espeically) often not giving fans the matches they wanted to see but telling them the matches they wanted to see.

In Overeems case though the reality is that he's been a K1 fighter first and a MMA fighter second ever since KOing Hari.

I think Fedor would spark him after being knocked about for a bit.

He looks a monster, but Elite Heavies will even up the size disparity, and he'll be in the same position he was at 205, getting sparked. This time it won't be Shogun jumping into his guard with bad intentions, it'll be Fedor!

He has seemingly improved, and appears to be on his best run of consistency through 2010, but not against great opposition in MMA. He has walked through Rogers and Duffee, but that doesn't mean he can do it to Werdum, Fedor and Barnett (assuming that's how it goes down)

IMO he will either be devastating or devastated. This tourney will see the latter IMO.

Are you a moron? Do you think he doesn't get tested? Overeem has to go threw the same tests as the rest of the fighters, its not like he gets a free pass.

Actually the UFC is the only organization in the world who doesn't share fighters. Strikeforce, Dream, Sengoku, Bellator and pretty much all the small shows have in the past and plan in the future to share fighters. It actually happens alot, with the lone exception of the UFC. Personally I think Dana is scared to prove his fighters against the world.

Or.. it makes no business sense to elevate other promotions to the UFC's level?

Its a business. Don't act like a fanboy.

With his size, power and superb striking abilities there's little doubt that he has the potential to be a force in the division. We'll have to wait and see if he will live up to it. Personally I think he will, mostly based on his K-1 exploits (obviously it's not MMA but still) and his almost flawless recent performances in MMA. They're not elite MMA fighters but still he dominated them. That and I'm big fan of The Demolition Man.

More like I will acknowledge the fact that it happened, as did Sergei knocking him out as he ran away, as did Werdum beating Fedor, something you seem to have a problem doing.

He's potentially a great fighter, just needs to go out and prove it.

Not to mention that they have shared fighters.

"The same tests as the rest of the fighters" is "none" in all but 2 of his fights since moving to HW full time.

Actually being willing to accept it purely because "its good for busienss" is exactly the thinking of a fanboy, I.E. the orgs interests become your own.

Actually thats pretty much true, SF, Bellator, Dream, WVR etc have all allowed fighters under contract to fight elsewhere within the last couple of years. The UFC havent as far as I can remember done so since Chuck over 7 years ago.

Why would Dana give strikeforce equal billing? All it does is give legitimacy to strikeforce.

Facing facts isnt acting like a fanboy. Putting a pouty little emotion "DANA IS SCARED" spin on it is.
