Whose the best fighter to retire and never come back So far I have Tunney Marciano Lewis Finito Lopez Julio Caesar Chavez (did he ever retire and comeback)
Monzon certainly went out on a high note and made it stick. Galindez did not live long enough to try, but the rematch loss to Jesse Burnett, nearly three years Victor's senior, was pretty conclusive. Galindez did not have much of a future in the cruiserweight ranks.
Marciano...thought about coming back in 1959 to fight Ingo.....started to train with Lou Duva...but was too far gone...
Marciano and Tunney seem the stand outs. But technically Tunney retired and came back early in his career... Marciano too, fought as a pro, before having an amateur career (with defeats), before comebacking as pro once again..
Did not Evander call it quits after his heart attack following the first Moorer fight, then decided he was OK after all and could continue?
