I see this fight going down like a drunken church girl spending the night at Ron Jeremy's house. Abraham will get up and limp away, dazed and humiliated, wondering how he got worked over so badly.
Ok, but that was the only time I saw Abraham completely disinterested in the ring...reminded me of the worst of Valuev. Even against Dirrell, who is faster and slicker than Froch, Abraham was clawing back into the fight before the foul and seemed to have a decent KO chance. Without Dirrell's annoying "slipping" he could have had him in real trouble. Against Froch he never tried, even when Froch stood right in front of him. So it remains to be seen if Abraham can get his motivation back and if it is easy to outbox him when he is motivated.
The Super Six began with me backing Abraham as co-favorite with Kessler and hoping he looked good at 168, and being very skeptical of the yet unproven Ward (and completely turned off by the "SOG" thing). What a difference 15 months can make. Abraham now disgusts me as a person and has left me completely nonplussed with his ability as a super middleweight. I honestly think he'd lose on most nights against all three of his fellow semi-finalists and doesn't even belong in the ring with them. Ward has won me over with both his work ethic and ability to win, and is IMO a massive favorite to make a clean sweep and win the tournament crown undefeated and possibly go on to defeat Bute and/or Kessler in a rematch.
IB doing it right. Abraham looked embarassingly bad last time out, he didn't move his head or cut the ring worth a damn, he had no answer for Froch's jab, and he couldn't even force any significant exchanges. Agreed on Ward. Especially since recently we've seen nothing but excuses and mediocre performances from American boxers- his confidence and will to win are genuine and I appreciate it. A lot of people knock him for the hometown, God, and headbutt stuff....But I can look past it. I would like to see him box off the backfoot more in the future though, IMO he's more exciting that way.
:good The more I think about it, this is yet another of "2011's Major Mismatches", along with Pacquiao-Mosley and Marquez-Morales. The difference is, I still like Mosley and Morales and actually care if they get hurt. I'll laugh at what Andre does to Arthur.
Pretty much. I think a lot of the Ward criticism is overblown anyway... He's actually not that pushy about his beliefs, has fought in his hometown only for the last few fights... And there are plenty of fighters who engage in similar or worse tactics and are beloved(Mayweather, Hatton, Bradley, Hopkins)... The S6 just gets boxing fans all upset for some reason.
Manny billions of poor starving people wake up with desperate hope every day... many die of starvation that same day.
dont count out abraham ever!! ever!! i know he looked like **** against froch and i was very disapointet in him even though i was rooting for froch anyway! we just have to give froch credit cause he fought a nearly perfect fight that didnt allow abraham to fight his fight all night! abraham can still do some damage no doubt about it in my mind
