I have to say sprints aswell, I used to do 3 miles or so at a fairly low intensity pace and my fitness improved sooooo slowly

Nowadays my roadwork usually consists of a light jog for about a mile and a bit to warm up, then one timed mile as fast as I can. And then I finish off with about a mile and half of sprints.

My fitness in sparring has gotten so much better, I used to really fear getting gassed out and so Id throw much less then I should have, I still get gassed but I can still throw fairly effectively even when im tired now.

I'm very commited to my training in terms of consistent training, I don't drink or smoke, or really party....but that carbonated beverages point was interesting. Why does it/has it helped?

i just try to eat as clean as i can, drink the least i can, i barely drink alcohol and don't eat fast foods and try to keep a consistent training schedule that works for me. But sometimes its hard with work.

Carbonated beverages( soda and seltzer water) irritate my stomach and make me feel really sluggish due to the increased levels of CO2 in the body when consumed. Soda specifically also impacts one's blood calcium...which obviously isn't good for athletes. If you're really serious about your athletic performance...STAY AWAY FROM CARBONATION! Soda is obviously much worse than carbonated water due to the added sugars and additives but both are really bad for athletes IMO.

Sponges under my handwraps (and icing my hands from time to time).

Cleaning my nose out with a q-tip before I spar.

Sparring before training rather than after.

I experimented with cutting out alcohol and saw literally no difference whatsoever in my training/recovery. Or anything.

I cut out soda when I was in high school and while I didn't FEEL any different, I was only playing soccer so there wasn't a lot to measure progress by. Did notice that when I started drinking it again I couldn't handle much of it. It really is nasty stuff...

I like my nose clean before I spar because I exhale hard through my nose when I punch, so i don't want snot flying everywhere while sparring. Is this why you do it?

Partially, also like to make sure there's nothing dry up there because I think it causes nosebleeds. I've never had a bad one but I've had blood spray all around the bottom of my nose and I figured it might be from a cut up inside it.

The flying snot is definitely the big one though lol
