Just to head off the obvious racial comments we're building up to here, the problem with calling Vitali "slick" is that one, he isn't what most of us would exactly call "athletically fluid", and two, his style, to me at least, is most defined by his power, his jab, and his wonderful use of his height. "Slick" fighters, at least the people I would call "slick", win because they don't necessarily have glaring physical advantages other than their speed and their tactical elusiveness. That's why Vitali and "slick" hadn't occurred to me. Calzaghe was slick. Malinaggi is slick. Martinez is slick. Pep was slick. It's not about race, it's about style. Vitali uses good head movement, but to call him "slick" is just a little bit of an overstatement, that's all.
he also uses his legs very well and counters...but all in all, ur right it is an overstatement...I was just reading the other thread about slick fighters and thought it was an interesting point. :thumbsup
he wasnt ducking and doging from what I remember That jab put the fear of hey-zoos????? in him while vitaly is slow as slug balls his hands are not
trust me tho I had thought about putting him in their as a slick fighter and debated but being that thread was rushed i chose not too his style is pretty much too or he is too dominate to actually gauge that, he bounces around in slo moe alot at times but generally he is tower over soe one smaller and is blasting his head off with jabs, I havent seen vitaly had to avoid any true assault sense lennox and he didnt look very slick, every punch seemed to stick. and like I said earlier he was bruised up nicely by king pin jabs and mercer jabs bruised him even worse although he went to destroy mercer for that **** still not slick when someone is able to compete, I ahve a 8 year old nephew id look like roy jones against! put in their with somebody that can compete id probaly be taking punishment
Black brother? No (Have a brother? Yes) Bald? No Fast? No From Midwest or North East USA? No Angry? No So NO!!!
Here you go idiot. You KEEP trying to make this a race thing. It isn't. Slick is slick. Many of the greatest slick fighters in HISTORY aren't Black and aren't even American! But that doesn't fit your "victim" scenario so you ignore it. Willie Pep Niccolino Locche [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a_wt60Wn9M[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LEKHMUCh8k[/ame]
Haha. No. I remeber when he tried to showboat like he was slck against I think it was Johnson. He looked ******ed. Hes not slick or agile at all.
No, Vitali is not slick. He just knows how to use his height. His pull counters wouldn't work if his opponents weren't wide and slow with their punches, and also much shorter than him. He gets away with **** like that because he's so big. He's listed at 6'7'' but he's more like 6'8''. None of his opponents were anywhere near his height except Lewis and Lewis hit him pretty much at will.
Why does everyone feel that "slick" is "good"? "Slick" can get you KTFO just as easily as it can get you a stylish win. Ask RJJ. If a fighter had to choose between being "slick" or "effective"? I would hope he would choose effective every time.
