Will you people consider Chavez Jr as the wbc champion if he beats Zbik?

The reason i ask cause as many of you know that Martinez was stripped by the ******ed wbc people in which the winner of Chavez Jr vs Zbik will be the wbc middleweight champion. So if Chavez wins, will he be consider "the" champion? I should ask only to freddy since he's in love with Chavez Jr.

Ill consider him a real boxer at the top on merit rather than his fathers reputation and careful match-making! In short he will have respect! Isn't that more important than some stupid alphabet title?

He'll just be another title holder. Martinez will still be #1

    Well said.

If he gets by Zbik, I want to see him fight Lemieux.

I don't see why anyone cares who the WBC recognises as champion.

Though it will be a good win for him considering how atrocious his current resume is.

Hopkins, Taylor, Pavlik, Martinez: Anybody else is just a titlist.

I'd give him props for beating a legitimate top 10 middleweight for the first time. It's a big step up in competition and if he passes he'll be a legitimate contender despite holding a paper title

Ranking is more important than titleholder status.

His best quality wins (kind of the only ones) would then be Duddy and Zbik. Does that command respect?

The lineage at 160 is crystal clear. Martinez beat the man who beat the man who beat the man. Sergio still holds the Ring Title, and he is still the middleweight champ. Anybody else is just a titlist.

No way. Stripping a legitimate champion in order to scrounge up some more sanctioning fees does not make the next fight a championship fight in my eyes.

in reality i expected to him to lose before he got a fight with a top 10 middleweight so i'd give him props for beating zbik even though he'd almost surely lose to martinez. i got a feeling if he wins though he'll hold that belt hostage fighting the weakest opponents possible until he's forced to fight a real champ. he'll find a way to weasel out of dangerous fights. he does have a lot of career ahead of him still so maybe he'll grab a belt and fight weaker opposition gradually stepping it up and he'll be ready to mix it up with the top dogs 3-4 years from now. he is still just a kid with no amateur experience and has a lot of time to come into his own. This is coming from a complete non fan as well, I don't dislike the guy but couldn't care less about him really. I don't find him exciting or particularly skilled.
