Bas Rutten says brock is not allowed to get hit in practice..and if he is, he should

Discussion in 'MMA Forum' started by monaroCountry, Feb 3, 2011.

  1. Bas also breaks down ufc 126. Says brock should fly to golden glory to learn how to strike.

also says if brock does get hit in practice he has no talent and should quit.

The fact Barry had be told to keep quiet does as Bas says pretty much tell you the answer.

This isnt a situation like Coleman, Mark clearly didnt have masses of natural talent for kickboxing but you could tell he'd been sparing by the way he reacted to getting hit. Brock does potentially look to have more talent than Coleman to me when it comes to striking but without the ability to take punishment he's always going to be at a massive handicap.

I have my doubts about Brock ever making the changes he should though, doesnt seem like he's commited enough to the sport to train anywhere but in his own backyard under his own terms.

Bas makes some great points; Brock is clearly scared of getting hit.

Coleman wasn't too poor at striking against say, Rizzo. Landed some nice punches, problem with him is his stamina always made his hands fall further and further down and leave him open.

Brock keeps his hands up, as soon as the punches comes he throws himself on the deck and gets in the foetal position.

bas always comes across well and has some good points. this dosnt shock me to hear about lesnar. i have always thought it was wierd that they are so secretive about his training camps, but i think this could be the reason. if he isnt getting hit and doing some hard sparring i dont see how he can improve this part of his game. i mean if he is scared of getting punched, then what the **** is he doing as an mma fighter.

to think that some dudes were saying this guy was the best heavy out there a few months back...

Coleman wasnt THAT bad standing technically I agree but the big difference was as I said that he could take punishment and stay cool. For the vast majority of people thats something that can only be learnt by prolonged hard sparring.

I think Brock will be broken if Dos Santos manages to KO him like I think he will.

Its so funny to think about all the monkeys who thought this guy was an unstoppable Viking Warrior DeathDealer!! Brock needs to get better or go back to the fake wrestling where you don't take punches.

Of course Bas is right. If Lesnar doesn't get in propper sparring, everyone he faces is going to try to exploit his fear of being hit.

There is also something else to consider. If these rumors are true, look how far Lesnar made it without sparring. It will only take one training camp to make a huge difference. I'm not saying he'll be ready to go Thai style with Overeem after one camp, but he won't spas out the second someone lands a good shot and he can stay more focused on taking the fight where he wants it to go.

When i first saw brock turn and run against Carwin i started to think "he must never really spar" i know from boxing that only some people do that....if they do it..they usually quit...but if they man up, keep sparring..and within a few weeks stop turning or running back. The fact that brock did it in a fight told me he wasnt really sparring at all. even with the mma gloves..you shouldnt turn backwards..thats a bad habit that should be broken by natural consquences in sparring.

There is a reason people spar, its not something as a fighter you shouldn't do.

I'd guess it will take somewhat longer than that, this is something Lesnar should have been working on for the last 3-4 years.

How far Brock came with these weaknesses does I'd say show you the problem with the short term system of rankings most people use these days. Style is a much bigger factor in MMA than other fightsports and just beating 1-2 other ranked fighters is not always the same test of someones all round game it is in boxing, a prolonged record agenst many quality opponants with different styles needs to be more of a consideration.

Thats how the UFC built him up. Fas as im concerned there gimmick isnt far off pro wrestling. Doesn't matter anyway because Dos Santos is going to smash him to bits. Then after Brock's contract is up he'll be off.
