Primes:Chris Eubank vs Marvin Hagler

Hagler comes forward. Eubank has only ever been any good off the back foot, he's useless coming forward.

Don't misunderstand, even on the defensive he's not good enough to take more than 2 rounds off Hagler, and that's being generous.

 

Hagler was two levels above Eubanks.

 

Well Hagler more often moved laterally than forward, although very effective in both styles. I guess he'd make Eubank look pretty useless if he fights in this manner of making Eubank come after him.

He wins in either style regardless.

 

Eubank struggled with a southpaw stance but Hagler was fairly square, open to sneaky body shots and prone to throw back instantly. Eubank was cat-like and would build up a lead IMO. From round 7-8 through to 15 I imagine Hagler would've measured him up. Hagler pts.

 

Hagler was simply a far superior fighter - I'd take him to win a wide decision. Eubank had an iron chin and was pretty smart, so I don't ever see him getting in serious trouble, let alone stopped.

 

No disrespect to Eubank, but ima call it as I see it, Eubank was on that level with a Hector Camacho, talented, just not on Whitaker's level, in Eubank's case, the equivalent would be Jones, Hagler, Toney or Hopkins.

 

Watson was about to stop Eubank before Chris caught him with that hail marry uppercut. For someone with an "iron" chin, he sure got hurt/decked alot. Amongst everything, his CHIN is overrated also.

 

Insult to Hector. Prime Camacho was a much higer level fighter then Eubank. Camacho at 130 was a legit top 5 P4Pder. When TF was Eubank ever that?

 

Watson dropped him out of fatigue.

Decked a lot, by who? he got caught cold by Calzaghe, got straight up, showed no signs what so ever that he was ready to be taken out.

Mike McCallum, who im a fan of, came closer to being stopped against Toney and Jackson, than Eubank has ever did.

 

Yeah ok.

And you think fatigue wouldnt be a factor against Hagler? Marvin had some of the best stamina in history.... and a hail mary punch is NOT bailing out Eubank here, considering Hagler's titanium chin.

When I think of iron chins, I think of Hagler, Lamotta, Chavez, Juan Laporte, Oliver McCall, James Toney, Sal Sanchez.

Eubanks' chin was NOT up to par with those guys.

 

Possibly, but Hagler tended not to put that kind of pressure on, his pressure came from behind the jab, that night, Watson was trying to walk through Eubank, take it to him, that said, Eubank still was not on the verge of being stopped. I said I think Eubank would lose, and no where, have I made the assertion he is knocking Hagler out.

James Toney had a good chin, he also had a great defense, which makes it appear, that you have an even greater chin.

Eubank's chin was not on par, but you cant give me one! definitive example of him being truly hurt, shaken, where is legs have gone?

 

Screw all this Hagler nut hug fest.

Hagler never even had the balls to step out of middleweight for Christ sake,let alone super or god forbid, Cruiserweight.

F*ck Hagler, he struggled against Duran and got wobbled by Hearns. Both puny welterweights who got slapped by Iran Barklay.

Well Benn took out Barkley in 1 yet Eubank beat Benn in 9 and even Hagler said Benn was the most ferocious puncher he'd ever seen.

Make this at Supermiddle and 1 paced Hagler is out matched. Make it at Cruiser and he won't even show up.

ps. Eubank was only ever down when off balance and not giving a **** accept for once and only once at the hands of Watson. That night Watson woulda raped anyone, including that Welterweight basher Marvin Hagler.

 

When he wanted, otherwise he was more comfortable boxing off the backfoot behind the jab, picking his spots.

Eubank fan but Hagler outclasses him. As others have said, Eubank raised his game for the big fights and put in some God-awful performances against journeymen, but no way he raises his game to Hagler level.
