I think Tyson Fury is a decent fighter but if he's as good as himself and Manny Steward say he is then why hasn't he stepped it up yet? I have no problem with guys taking the measured route to success but you loose the right to go around trash talking and talking yourself up when your playing it safe. Before his first fight with McDermott he was calling himself world class. I don't know how a Brit based fighter can call themselves world class when they haven't even taking a step up to fight Sexton, Chisora, Rogan, Harrison or Skelton. I think Fury can go places but he's at least three years off world class. He should pipe down and learn his trade or take the tougher fights that are out there. For the record I think McDermott won the first fight.
For me, worse than anything you've mentioned, is that he seems to not take his training seriously. He consistently turns up out of shape. It's either he is immensely confident in his ability, or that he's a lazy, un-motivated mess. I lean towards the latter. It's as if he feels he can coast his entire career on his size, and it's not even as if he uses that to his advantage. He's basically a poor man's Valuev.
Tyson Furys a joke in the fight with McDermott he looked like a slob who theyd just dragged out of a pub , he will get nowhere in life he doesnt even have an athletic build hes just got good height and reach , euro level at best ...
He didnt look that good vs Page in his last fight. I thought for sure he was gonna go in there and blow away his journey man but it was a boring 8 rounder
I'm more a fan than necessarily thinking he's gonna set the world alight. However he's deffo got potential and he's still a young guy. Other than a very brief time at Brian Hughes he's never really had a proper trainer - I'm think there's going to be big improvements under Manny Steward
creasing up at some of the comments about him in this thread! I too don't understand why he turns up fat and out of shape. He's never gonna get anywhere like that!
Lots of very harsh comments towards a promising young fighter. From most interviews etc I hear he trains very hard.
