Both guys has losses and yes Martinez is making inroads and several young pups are knocking on the divisions door but bugger me this fight still needs to be made! Abraham will likely be out of the S6 soon which should free him up and like he says 168 is too much for him. Will we see it? Do you still want to see it?
18 months ago or so it was by far the most important fight that could be made at 160 and I wanted to see it but I couldn't really give a **** if it happens now.
Junior Witter said he wouldnt fight below 147 again and now he wants Khan at 140 so nothing can be gosple! The intention may be there but if the money is right, and it would be a big money fight imo, it could be done or at least at a catchweight. Also suspect Pavlik would fancy his chances, id love to see it.
If this is ever made at 160lbs, & I can't see it happening, I'll be waging that both Abraham & Pavlik fail to make weight!
160lbs doesn't make any sense for both Pavlik & Abraham at this point in their careers. They both can't make 160lbs healthy anymore... I've been saying for a while now that a Pavlik vs Abraham fight should still be made but at 168lbs. I would seriously pursue that one as Pavlik's 2nd come back fight.
I would highly endorse this matchup. Both fighters are at a crossroads, and need a win. AA is in my opinion, the best of the Euro-bums in the Super-6, although he lacks boxing skills and relies on his opponent to tire before he gets in a late round lucky punch. My advice for AA is to ditch his current trainer, come to America and train under Stewart or Mayweather and get some skills under his belt. If he does this, he can clean out the European MW/SMW division before facing an American champ (Pavlik, Ward, Dirrell) again.
