If floyd really does retire (which I don't think he will). I think we gotta respect the decision. If he fights Cotto and wins then there will be paul williams nd if he beats williams there will be Cintron and if he beats Cintron there will be another guy and then another. There comes a point where you have to call it quits. I would love to see Floyd vs Cotto but I would respect his decision if he walks away now.
Yup. there will always be that 1 guy. Yu see what happened to Roy jones when he tried to fight that guy. If Floyd retires now, i'll be pretty content. He can't and won't fight every single welterweight contender and still be in his prime. It won't happen. Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Mosely, Cintron. By that time Berto and maybe Clottey will be contenders. He can't fight them all. I would like to see Cotto/PBF though.
Point made. But if he does retire like he says he will then I expect no more stupid claims like he is side by side with Robinson. He wouldn't have the resume as it stands to be considered top 20 p4p ever. My opinion.
good post but he gotta tax Cotto ass then retire..there really isnt anyone else deserving but Cotto he brings money record skills and a following nobody else can
floyds a much better technical fighter than jones was, he doesn't rely on his otherworldly athletic skills near as much, but the point is valid, eventually he'll be beaten by someone if he keeps fighting.
i dont think anyone can fight that many fights nor produce that type of resume no more fighters are more talented today and are more succeptible to defeat and with todays day and age we hang on defeats a lot as compare in the past defeats really didn't end a career but today Defeats can burn your career FAST! the only fighters not to let a loss do that are Winky, Oscar, Mosely, and B-Hop.....today a 0 in that lose column is almost everything thats why fighters are sheltered a lot today.
It's crazy to me how people are asking someone who... Cleaned out 130. Sat on top of 135. Became a titleholder at 140. Became Welterweight champion and defended title twice. Went up to 154 and beat the best there Fought 39 fights.... To clean out the 147 division. It's just not realistic at all.
williams will beat him now, no doubt. he can, not will, but can beat cotto( would be close), but not williams
i really hope he takes on cotto. all th other guys you mentioned at welter are not in cotto's level as sales for a fight is concerned so after cotto, that should be it. i don't think there are enough cintron, margarito, or williams fans who could oush pbf into a match with their guy
If he wants to retire then I'll respect his decision because he's already proved everyone that he's one of the best there ever was.
Of course. That is the way it is. No matter what you do, there will always be someone out there that has in the meantime put together a decent win or two which makes them appear to be the next logical challenger. That's inevitable. In the time it would take him to fight Cotto, someone else would achieve something impressive and be pushed into line.
