Why are people overlooking Joe Calzaghe?????? this guy achieved so much, but it has to be the Nigel Dark Destroyer Benn for me..........!!!!!!
Frankie Gavin is the Irish champion. Doesn't make him Irish. Anyways, Lewis gets my vote. Or is he Canadian because he represented Canada at the Olympics?
I trust the man well enough to know he knows himself. And he tells me he is Irish. Told me he never even renewed his British passport. I guess if winning the British title means your British then Lewis has to be British here? I go with Bob Fitz* noone else from Britain has made as big an impact on the sport from an historical point of view... *(He had an Irish father, I think the Irish can claim Fitz if we give you McGuigan, or was it NZ?) I don't think Lewis' era was that special, his two losses to lesser fighters hurt him, no matter what way you try an patch it up. Ingemar Johansson also beat everyone he ever faced, only lossing to one man (the one with the kind words about Finbar). I believe the Lewis bubble has reached it peak. H2H lewis is a nightmare for anyone, but he was beatable, his competition wasn't anything special imo, without old Holyfield, Shot Tyson and that win over Vitali on his resume i wouldn't rate him very highly at all. I still can't decide his best win. His defining fight against another great. Imo, Bob Fitz wins this hands down. From the list, Maybe Calzaghe. Lewis, Hatton, Benn running close.
