Both wins were impressive but Lacy went on to deliver **** performances on a regular basis exposing him as a hype job. Tito, however, was not ready for a 160lbs ATG but is still considered a great fighter.

In retrospect it's Hopkins over Tito by a million miles.

The Calzaghe beating was impressive but the Hopkins win is way bigger.

Hopkins wins by a country mile. whether at the time of the fight or now with hindsight Tito was simply a higher calibre of fighter than Lacy.

    hopkins over trinidad, for sure
hopkins was actually the underdog in that fight, and the manner in which he dismantled tito did a lot for him, in fact it pretty much set the stage for his career to present
prior to that, outside of really hardcore boxing fans, b-hop wasnt that well known. the tito fight changed that.
although I will say this............in the aftermath of the tito fight, hopkins could have done a lot more and been more reasonable about getting back in the ring sooner with big names
I mean, morade hakkar..........come the hell on!!!!!!!!!!

In retrospect it would have to be Hopkins over Trinidad.

    Interesting Post.

    Both were underdogs.

Trinidad had only had one MW title fight/one MW fight and there was a dispute over his hand wraps.
Lacy had a run of 5 SMW title fights

Trinidad was a great fighter with a good resume but not much at MW other than Joppy
Lacy wasnt a fighter on Trinidads level in terms of resume but had a reasonable SMW record.

Trinidad was a former WW Hopkins debuted at LHW and was a long time MW
Lacy was a full blown SMW as was Calzaghe

Trinidad had been down 7 times that I know of and hurt
Lacy had not been to my knowledge or visably hurt

Trinidad didnt make massive waves at MW
Lacy was arguably Americas best SMW of the decade. Debateable between Lacy and Mitchell in my opinion

Weigh up all of the facts for yourself, but I would say Calzaghe beating Lacy is far more impressive than beating a fighter who was a world champ 4 divisions lower than where Hopkins debuted even if Trinidad is a ATG

if facts were irrefutable we wouldn't be having this discussion.
it's bias, small-mindedness and people who try to use a boxing board as an extension of themselves i have a problem with.
