The WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF along with the regional titles (European, British) will all have champions and mandatory challangers for the titles. If we take DeGale vs Groves for example, the British Board of Control will have informed Frank Warren and Adam Booth that Groves was mandatory for the British title. They will have been given a set amount of time to negotiate the fight, and if it wasn't sorted in that time a purse bid would be called with a specific purse split (usually 75-25)

Any promoter will then be able to bid on the fight. So if Warren bids £110,000 and Booth bids £97,000 Warren will own the right to promote the fight and the purse will be spllit depenedent on what the board orderd (as Groves is Comm champ it will be 60-40).

The winning bidder will then put the fight on whenever and whereever they choose within a set timeframe, usually 90 days.

I told people this a few weeks ago. James Degales cousin goes to my college and said it was almost a done deal a few weeks back. I made a thread about it too.

But can DeGale box Sartisan or anyone for that matter if Warren has lost the purse bid?

Yes. He'll just have to vacate the belt.
