degale is the better fighter, groves is younger and needs more experience, people overrate degale for his win over smith who is average and limited. degale will be top drawer in the next few years imo
No he's not. He slaps for a start, he is fairly open to counter punches and is wide when he throws the overhand left. He is fast and improving all the time, but you hugely overrate him and had the audacity to say he was a better version of Ward, when the latter is technically better in just about every facet of the game.
I have seen people saying Anderson could give Froch a run for his money. Bottom line if groves was what we fought he was he would of blown away an overly agressive anderson in a couple of rounds
Degale is better NOW than Ward WAS at the same stage of their carrers. Degale just schooled the british champion, ward was still scrapping about with no-name club fighters. remember its only since he beat Kessler that anyone was even talking about ward.
its alright mate..... you clearly cant see how good he is. it will come to you soon. ward has better fundamentals.... degale has better countering abilities, he's faster, moves better, has more flair and more tricks, more variation, and just alround more skill. would he beat him yet? no because ward is way more experienced and probably has more fight in him. but give degale 2 years and he'll beat him.
were they being serious? i haven't seen anyone overrating anderson. some people may have said he was as good (or better) an opponent as paul smith. well, at least he's a supermiddleweight. as for groves, he's probably the only worthwhile domestic opponent left for degale along with magee.
I think the size Anderson come into the fight he could of fought light heavyweight, he was always dangerous at the start but he gassed out later on and Groves pounced, very good win for Groves. Froch is in a different class to Anderson, groves and Degale.
your over rating him mate. he is a huge talent but he make allot....ALLOT of mistakes. One thing people are doing with this fight is over rating DeGales defence, he is very open and a big puncher like Groves is a dangerous fight for DeGale. People are saying Groves has a bad defence and shaky chin but DeGale is not a big puncher in any way. He still slaps. I think DeGale wins but its a very tough fight for DeGale. I think DeGale wins it down to the mental side of things rather than actual boxing ability.
You are confusing ability and how a fighter has looked with level of competition. Ryan Rhodes fought at a better level after 10 fights than RJJ did. Who was the better fighter? Degale is fighting at a higher level at this stage of his career than Ward was, but that does not mean he looks a better fighter than Ward did early on. Ward never slapped like Degale does, Ward never threw shots as wide as Degale does. And so on... What on earth is "more flair and tricks" in boxing? You mean he drops his hands more and and throws in a little show boat? So did Anthony Small and he was shite at any serious level. How is a fighter "more skilled" if their fundamentals are inferior? Ward throws every punch in the book with superior technique to Degale, he turns his wrist over and his defence is tighter too. His footwork is good and he judges distance well. I'm no mad Ward fan and I have been pleased and impressed by Degales progress, but you are going WAY overboard on him and don't seem to care about the huge flaws he still has because he fights in a flashy style.
Degale does look a better fighter now than ward did. go back and watch wards fights, there was nothing special about him, even the yanks werent hyping him, that should tell you something. Joe calzaghe "slapped" well past 40 fights
