Does anyone know why McCloskey is holding his Euro belt? I thought he'd either be stripped or have to vacate it if he was going for a World title?

Does that mean it's up for grabs?

It's just promotional, showing he's a champion also.

I'm pretty sure McCloskey is keeping the belt.

Hey quick question, will mcclosckey's title be on the line as well?

If McCloskey wins Khans WBA belt, he has to give up the European belt, though Khan can't win it at the moment, as he has a World title.

I think McCloskey would still keep the European belt if he lost...though I'm hopeful he'll win!

Khan might be fighting for the European belt soon if McCloskey beats him ;)

    Boxing 4 Eva -

I accept the arguement that the Prescott fight is somewhat irrelvant. I agree that Khan has improved drastically since then but it is still something to consider when formulating an opinion on how this fight will go. You can't go around saying that your "opinion is based on watching khan and mccloksey fight" and then then predict a 100 second knock out of mccloskey!

mccloskey has never looked in trouble in his career and khan has been knocked out in less than 60 seconds so your opinion is based on nothing more than your own opinion, it isn't based on anything that you've actually witnessed from watching either guy fight.

Rico - your correct, complete knock outs are very rare and if you want to see one look at mccloskey - lauri round 11. granted - lauri was foolish and stuck his chin out and dropped his hands but it does give you some inclination into the power mccloskey has. don't get me wrong - i'm not saying mccloskey is mike tyson, far from it but he certainly has the power to put khan down and khan does have a bit of previous with being chinny.

mccloskey will have to be on top form to beat khan and like all things in life he will probably need a bit of luck, but i think he is more than capable of doing it.

i think mccloskey has to relinquish the european strap now. i'm not 100% on that but i think he was due to have a mandatory by june and will now be forced to give it up. no harm anyway, he can swim at world level now

I love the way people defend their own.

Of course you can, because seeing Mccloskeys flaws, in combination with how Khan performs leads me to predict it will be very unlikley that Mccloskey will be able to last longer than that without a referee stopping the fight

See, you're not understanding my point. What I've highlighted is completely irrelevant unless they had faced a similar level of opposition.

To emphasise how stupid it is.. Dmitriy Salita went 24-0 before ever being put down, and went 33-0 before losing to Khan. Did people say "It's ridiculous to say he'll lose in the 1st round because Khan has been KO'd in the first round and Salita hasn't!"

    it happens...

i really think mccloskey has a chance though and its not just a case of being nationalistic. mccloskey is the 3rd irishman to face khan. i didn't give the other two (gomez & ***an) much of a chance and they were both stopped by khan. i rate mccloskey on his merits and not his nationality.

gomez was washed up and ***an had the heart but lacked the skill - there you have it..

Pacman was almost KTFO by a jab so I reckon McCloskey would put Pacman in a coma lol

I expect Khan to win but I do hope Dudey does give Khan some problems. It will make for an interesting fight!
