In a pound for pound sense, he's not above Whitaker, Hagler, or Jones. I have to put him ahead of Hearns and de la Hoya. The more interesting question is where he stands among the welterweights, and there he is close to the top. Where does he stand in relation to Robinson, Armstrong, Gavilan, Napoles, and Whitaker? That's the more interesting question.

We are in the presence of greatness gentlemen dont doubt it for a second.

It is dificult to talk about rating him over all time greats at this stage of his career because he is an unfinished work. I expect to see him rated with ring legends like Armstrong, Robinson Leonard and Whitaker after he retires.

    Eh? I'm talking overall.

Pretty Boy would be iced by Hearns in a head head-to-head contest- no doubt. :good

mayweather over de la hoya? funniest thing i have read all day. A old far past his prime rusty Oscar nearly beat floyd mayweather, lets just be thankful for floyds sake that he never had to get in the ring with a late 1990s prime oscar de la hoya.

no way mayweather rates over oscar, not yet.

amazing how underated oscar continues to be. he probably was the most skilled boxer of the 1990s. Even when old and overweight, he has such good boxing skills he can still beat/nearly beat the best young fighters in the weight class.

Aye but sure Tommy fought at WW during the early 80's (it was his natural weight division). P4P it's a fair shout to rate Mayweather higher I might agree with you there.

oscar in his prime is not only better h2h than floyd, but oscar fought in a much tougher era and beat better competition than floyd.

Ill take that version of pernell whitaker over anyone floyds beat.

dont forget oscar also beat ike quartey, Fernando Vargas, ricardo Mayorga, felix sturm, jesse james leiga, miguel angel gonzalez, rafael rulas, young gernaro hernandez, john john molina, jorge paez,

and many people including myself consider trinidad robbery and mosely II wins. these 2 fights right here put oscar ahead of mayweather.

once again, if a old rusty past his prime oscar can nearly beat floyd, imagine what a 1990s prime oscar would do.

u include the mosley 2 and trinidad wins, but forget the controversies surruonding sturm, quartey and old whitaker.
