Apparently there is a new TV deal with MTV2. Weird. As long as it's live. :conf FSN did a horrible job; no promotion and preempting every other event, either showing it on 24-hour delay or never at all. The first card kicks off the WW tournament quarterfinals: Lozano vs. Good Weedman vs. Hornbuckle Carl vs. Hieron Walhead vs. Hawn Get excited!
Well, in his case yes - he has steamrolled everyone put in front of him. (That could also be a testament to his own talents, though) Otherwise they have produced some pretty competitive match-ups and have had their share of upsets (hell, Roger Huerta was the face of not only their promotion but of all of MMA for a brief time - and he dropped two in a row with BFC).
Weedman-Hornbuckle was not my favorite kind of fight...a lot of rolling around on the ground. Therefore, my attention wasn't exactly rapt. However, Hornbuckle appeared to be in control much of the way and the crowd obviously didn't appreciate the decision. We'll see more of him. Walhead-Hawn was more fun (more stand-up). Lapsley-Hieron was amusing, like watching an octopus shut down a crab. Lapsley was simply afforded no control of his own limbs whatsoever and try as he might looked completely helpless for as long as it lasted. Lapsley arguing the stoppage was ridiculous. No, he didn't tap but he was en route to being choked out after having been manhandled for over three minutes. That is the ref's discretion, and was a good call. Lozano-Good was essentially a very technical kickboxing match - and so for me was FOTN. Lyman reminded me why he's one of my favorites in this organization. Lozano is a real warrior for toughing it out with his eye smashed up like that. I think we're looking at Good over Hieron in the finals.
Sucks that Hornbuckle lost. I want to see that guy succeed. I personally think he won, but it was a close fight. I also thought it was a great fight, but I love scrambly ground battles.
I haven't seen it, so I don't know for sure. I do know that I don't recall ever seeing a headline quite like this:
