Not that i'm doubting Fedor after his loss vs Werdum. **** happens...and he got caught. (no shame there , since Werdum is mma's most decorated hw in the jiujitsu department...Multiple adcc champ) Anyway , this is another risky fight for emelianenko. And i'm personally glad that his camp is letting him fight solid competition , (hopefully they'll continue like this before he retires)... Silva vs Fedor will be the moment of truth. It'll give us an idea where fedor will go from there , (if he's fading as a fighter...or if he still has what it takes to beat solid opposition). The reason , i created this thread is because of this: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8895736&postcount=3 or http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8896545&postcount=4 Don't be so sure guys...Yes it's fedor but we're in 2011 not 2005 anymore. We're talking about a past prime fighter who's solid enough to compete at 34... (Like Anderson....who's 35)...As dominant as they are...I don't think we can really talk about "prime" anymore. Some age like fine wine...some end up like Tyson or Crocop...It can be brutal. Whether werdum's fight was a sign...I don't know. All i know is that fedor escaped similar situations back in 2003 against prime Nogueira...( + he used to be way more cautious)... If Fedor annihiliates Antonio...You can bump this thread all you want , my point still stands....Antonio is certainly NOT a "can". We're talking about a guy who used to fight at 280 , 290 lbs... or more...He lost a lot of weight...Even so , he still weighs 264 lbs...(but look at the size of his ****ing bones !...) Sure...Antonio's record is not the best ever or anything...But we're talking about a massive...very strong guy who (unlike Carwin , Lesnar or Cain for that matter)...has legit jiujitsu defense / offense + KO power...His jiujitsu is not on par with Werdum's... But it's legit. + he's endurant for a guy of his size. As amazing as Fedor is...I'm living in the present , in other words..I'm ready for anything tonight , especially after what happened in the werdum fight and also because of what happened inside the cage against Rogers. Precisely at 3:09 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSQ__-Hczcs[/ame] I hope (for his sake) he'll avoid any similar situations against Silva because he'd pay the price...big time. As you all know , Silva lost against Werdum , but before you dismiss this guy as a "can" , watch how difficult it was for werdum to handle the situation. (especially in the first round) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugVeNy4c6GM[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCl7TBgga-8[/ame] The guy is a brute..he has strong leg kicks..too. Here is his fight against Arlovski (which he won) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjJHhe2_pcA[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px4Mijw6tG0[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_qJ7q23Sfs[/ame] He's a big guy who is quite endurant...He will not gas as fast as Carwin (like he did in his fight against lesnar...a stupid loss..a fight which he was dominating too)... Of course styles make fights...Maybe Antonio is an ideal victim for fedor...maybe not. All i'm saying is that i'm not 100% certain of a fedor victory. And don't get me wrong , i'm not saying the odds are on antonio's size. (well...size advantage definitely is...including strength)...I think Fedor will win... All i'm saying is that Big Foot is not Zulu # 2 ...More like a superior version of Gonzaga. Note: as a matter of fact , Werdum defeated both of them. But he had more problems beating Antonio than Gonzaga...(which he defeated twice)... At this point in time...I'm giving fedor the edge...But not a huge one. (even though he's much more versatile than Overeem , Antonio , Barnett , Kharitoinov , Arlovski , Rogers)... But he's always the smaller fighter...Strikeforce's HW division is more like a Super-HW division
I agree with you on that. Fedor is slowing down at 34, he is clearly past his prime IMO. People are often judging fights by statistics or records (who beat whom etc.) and on paper Fedor is a huge favorite, but when you consider the current situation it won't be an easy fight for him. I'm so pumped for this card!
Bigfoot is a can. He almost got starched by a light heavyweight in his last fight. The countdown is on now. Fedor isn't losing but don't come back here tomorrow talking like he beat a worldbeater in Silva because that cat probably doesn't even crack a legitimate top ten.
Silva is no can i agree. But win or lose, Fedor's spot in history is cemented. That being said we will see where Fedor is after tonight. Fedor by RNC rd 1
he got caught...So what ?...Fujita caught fedor once too.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PttoINJZZPY[/ame] and no i'm not gonna say anything...I'm just saying this isn't a can we're talking about here. and what happened in the 2nd round is what matters the most. As soon as silva has the dominant position it's game over
He on;y beat him because he was fighting a light heavyweight. Silva is horrible. Fedor got a pass in the first round. That's why this is bull****. They should have put him in with Barnett. But strangely enough Barnett is fighting on the card in Japan land of the rising HGH or so they say. . .
So...what exactly is there at 3:09 ? You mean not one punch landing cleanly on Fedor face ? Yes I think we can all see that !
He did , but Sylvia (no matter what you may think of him..)...As one dimensional as he is , defeated Vera , Monson , Rodriguez (in his prime) , Rothwell...It's not like he's totally incapable. We can say that poor Monson was too small...That Vera (once a great prospect , is going nowhere with his career)...and that his fight against Rothwell is irrelevant (since it happened a long time ago)... Granted the 310 lbs Sylvia vs Mercer was a catastrophy... But you have to take arlovski's victory in the right context. It was in 2005...Sylvia was fighting at (258.5 lbs) ... You can write off arlovski and say he never was good but then what does that tell you about ufc's entire hw division ? Frank Mir was annihilated by Ian Freeman (we're talking about a 211lbs fighter here)... http://mmavideolinks.to/fighter-videos/164/1613-frank-mir-vs-ian-freeman-download.html Not even the + 265 or 270 lbs Lesnar could get the job done this quick... Arlovski defeated Freeman , Sylvia , Rothwell , Werdum , Nelson , Matyushenko... (Nelson who btw...Gave Dos Santos Junior the most difficult fight in his ufc career...Dos Santos is ufc's best hw prospect at the moment)
You guys think i'm full of **** and yet...Here is what i said at the time...(before Werdum vs Fedor..) http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7130766&postcount=2 one can never be 100% sure
Rogers ended up there because Fedor tried to go for a kimura, he didn't took Fedor down. And while he was g'n'p him Fedor tried an armbar. So no biggy IMO !
i think fedor will win cuse of his speed advantage, he will probly do like kyle did, but finish, , im so nervous, silva is a big dude
