I feel this is great news for our lads, the draw wont be as cruel on them if they meet the favs in the last 16. Surely ups our chances. The Olympic qualification guidelines for the 2011 AIBA World Senior Men's Championships have been confirmed. The 2011 AIBA World Senior Championships and first Olympic qualifiers will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan between September 22nd and October 10th. Boxers finishing in a top ten position in eight of the ten weight categories - light-flyweight, flyweight, bantamweight, lightweight, light- welterweight, welterweight, middleweight and light-heavyweight - will qualify for the 2012 Olympics Boxers reaching the quarter-finals (top eight) in Baku are guaranteed Olympic berths. The remaining two places will go to the boxers that lost to the eventual gold and silver medalist in the last-16 stage in their weight categories. Heavyweights and super-heavyweights will have to finish in a top six position. Likewise, the four boxers reaching the semi-finals will automatically qualify for the 30th Olympiad. The remaining two places will go to the boxers that lost to the eventual gold and silver medalists in their weight categories. There will be one final Olympic qualifier for European boxers (and per various Continent) in Istanbul, Turkey in April 2012. Rigondeux in the Examiner again today. Apparently he will be coming to Cork March 7th to setup a training camp in the Montenotte hotel, where he had the press conference. Will be bringing in sparing partners from France and Italy for his last hard week of training pre fight. We will have to try him on the raw duck eggs and a feed of Beamish.

Lads, yesterday they released the dates for all of the events for the London Olympics 2012. Applications for tickets will open on March 15 2011 and close on April 26 2011. It is not a first come first served thing, just make sure you sign up for tickets during the window frame - it is a lottery - whether or not you secure the tickets you apply for. Full info available on the website below. Also, the Boxing dates start from around 28 July 2012 and the finals finish on the 11th and 12th August. The boxing will take place in the Excel in London. There are loads of good hotel and pubs near the Excel, it is overlooking The Thames. In the meantime, you can sign up for the mailing list on the website too. From experience, they still have a lots of tickets available to purchase at outlets during the Olympic Games, but if you can reserve tickets online, even better and saves the queuing up.:good http://www.tickets.london2012.com/ Schedule and Ticket Prices: http://www.tickets.london2012.com/olyschedule_p1.html
Surely somebody will have to take it. Fat Dan Rafeal had it on his chat last week that espn wont be showing it. Surely they can get it on an website anyway, maybe gofightlive.tv?
