HBO paid more for Dzinziruk's purse than for Montiel-Donaire...

The fact that fraud Bertoe gets twice as much as these 2 p4p fighters is ****ing disgusting

 

Some of you guys need to learn how business works.

HBO is paying a relatively cheap purse out for these two guys and they both accepted it and we are seeing the fight, so what's the big issue? If HBO would have paid a penny more then it's a bad business deal for them since the fighters clearly would have accepted less.

It's all about supply and demand, leverage and positioning.

HBO wanted Dzinziruk to fight Martinez and with the fight date rapidly approaching, Dzin's management gave HBO a number and they accepted it.

Two totally different scenarios.

The reason why guys like Berto are paid more is because they are managed and promoted better, end of story.

 

Its not all good business from HBO , or they wouldnt have taken away Cotto's date , thus losing Pacquiao !!!!

There seems to be a fundamental lack of understanding for who and what holds the most value in broadcasting world championship boxing from HBO's end , thats not referring to the small fee paid for Montiel - Donaire in comparision to Dzin or Berto's pay cheque's from HBO , its just a general observation !!!

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but everyone here is quick to jump all over HBO recently for every decision that they make. Now they are being criticized for underpaying Donaire and Montiel. What would you do, pay $10 or $15 for the same product? If you could pay $10, you would and HBO clearly got good value out of this deal and the fighters were willing to take it.

We should all be happy here.

If the fight is good, both stand to make good money for future fights especially the winner.

 

Some fair points but HBO clearly can't win around here with anything that they do. They are bringing us a great fight and are still being criticized, that's all I'm saying.

 

You clearly know a lot of how HBO conduct there business in terms of broadcasting live boxing , as in securing contracts with promoters for showcasing there fighters .....................

Have they made any fundamental changes to there team in the light of the Arum debacle ????

 

It will be hard fix it with Arum. They made their bed with GBP, all because they built their house on a deck of cards based on Mayweather fighting. Since he ain't fighting, well they got jack **** for this.

The only big boy in the game atm is Pac, and HBO is fast learning that all roads go thru Pac for now. The CBS deal is a one fight deal, giving HBO some time to come up with a package to get Arum back. Though seeing as how HBO only has 25m subscribers versus CBS' 115m... and with CBS flexing their network muscle to get Arum primetime status the deck is stacked against HBO.

 

- True, but what peopel are saying is that Montiel and Donaire are both more deserving than Dzinziruk and Berto combined.

- Supply and demand? Who wanted Dzinziruk vs Martinez or Hernandez vs Berto? Not a damn person. Quite the contrary on Montiel vs Donaire which people have been demanding for quite a few years now.

- That is what people don't like about HBO. They demand fights that make no sense. Again, the public was not demanding Martinez vs Dzinziruk

- Berto gets paid more not because he is promoted better because he can't sell any tickets. His management (Haymon) has enormous influence on the HBO boxing department.

I just think we all need to stop crying, be happy that HBO is bringing us a fight that ALL of us want to see and be happy that we have two networks competing against each other to bring us the biggest and baddest fights.
