(35-2, 15KOs) dominated the action in a battle of jabs. Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20KOs) was unable to get past Sturm's guard but landed a few decent jabs that busted open Sturm's mouth. In the fifth, Sturm started to come on and Hearns began to fade. Sturm saw his opponent starting to fade out and put his punches together. In the seventh, Sturm caught Hearns flush with a bomb and blasted away until the referee jumped in to stop the action at 2:30:dead.

N'Jikam or Golovkin would be reasonable too--isn't there some WBA protocol for "regular" and "interim" champions becoming mandatory for "super" champions or do they each just keep passing their respective belts around to other challengers? I'm confused.

A robbery loss against DLH, and wins over Castilejo and Sylvester.

I don't think we'll see a unification, so a fight against someone like Geale or Barker/Macklin will probably be next

In addition the middleweight farce continues with:

Pirog vs. Javier Francisco Maciel (18-0) (12kos) ranked 39th in the world and 4th in Argentina (Boxrec)
N'Jikam vs. Giovanni Lorenzo (28-3) former Sturm, Sylvester and Marquez victim

    Why?
Sturm has a debateable loss to De La Hoya that many thought he won, but has a good revenge win over Castillejo, former WBO champ Schenk, Sylvester who is current IBF MW champ & Gevor, throw in an old former WBC MW champ Cherifi, Lorenzo, Varon who has just pushed world rated Macklin hard and Masoe. Its not a bad resume at all

Sturm needs to fight a credible opponent. Golovkin would beat him in my opinion.

Sylvester is a paper champ, you and everyone else here knows that. Not as if he beat Abraham for it. Sturm has been riding the gravy train on the back of that De La Hoya fight now for far too long. I agree with you that it was a debatable loss to De La Hoya but you never mentioned his very debatable win against Gevor instead just referencing it :huh. Macklin is world rated in his own head, the feather fisted Zbik knocked Varon out in 4. Good resume Bailey, but c'mon you know he hasn't fought the best in the divsion. If he fights and beats any of Martinez, Pirog or Golovkin id be more convinced.
