This is something I'm really not sure of how it actually works. Does anyone know how a boxer in Australia goes about making the Olympic team? I know they have to win in the Oceania championships, but is there a tournament that you have to win to get to Oceania championships and a tournament you have to win to get to that tournament etc? I tried doing a bit of research on it earlier and couldn't find anything on any of the amateur boxing websites. Anyone got any ideas or links I could have a look at?

National Championships are a given.. Asscociation Titles.

With League and Global concerns, I'd be sure a fighter is in deep when it comes to National representation, as far as selection.

The way it seems to me. If you train at certain gyms you have a far better chance. I watched the qualifying fights to represent WA at the nationals. The biase is absolutely astonishing.

Win ABA State title which enables you to enter in the Nationals, win the Nationals in the same year as selection and your pretty much in. And what Ben says is True, certian gyms are favourd with the judges. sad but true, and they wonder why we have never won gold lol

Just watched some amazing scoring today, Ben, no one from a kickboxing gym seemed to score a single point, no one from former league gyms seemed to win, it was a frightful joke. Our boy got done, even though he nearly stopped his opponent and overwhelmed him most of the fight, but that was to be expected as his opponent was in the Aust. squad and the promoters boy.

I think this scoring system is by far the easiest to rig as no judge can be held accountable.

It really has me baffled as to why such a proven '**** can' of a judging system would be implimented by any local amateur authority.

The scoring system will change soon (hopefully within the next 3-6 months). Should result in more accurate decision making. 3 judges no longer have to hit button within a second of each other. It has to be better than what we have.

I have been watching the WSB and the judging in most part has been good. Very little if any home town decisions normally associated with pro boxing and the boxers can use any fighting style they choose and be rewarded for their effort unlike current amateur boxing.
