This is the smartest post in this thread. Why would you compare the two? I mean if somehow Nonito climbs through weight categories and fights Khan then I see it but other then that no chance in hell.
No. He's just a fast guy with a shitload of flaws. Can't fight on the inside, poor defense, poor footwork, sloppy, lacks the ring comfort and fluidity that you see from great fighters. He is unlikely to be more than a decent champ/title-holder. Which is nothing to be ashamed of at all but hardly the "future of the sport".
Dont let the Maidana fight fool you, Maidana would make most look bad due to his walking down, i will take any of your shots style. Watch Khan handle Bradley, he will answer most of your questions then.
Khan is not supposed to be like "most fighters", if we are talking about him being "the future of the sport" or a great-in-the-making or something. Khan was just looking bad at times because of his own flaws. Not because of Maidana's great abilities, he's not exactly the quickest or most deliberate ring-cutter. Khan simply has poor footwork and defense and isn't especially intelligent or technically skilled. He's one-dimensional, all of his game is long-range, he lacks an inside game and his mid-range game is nothing special either. Being a B, B+ fighter on the world class level and a decent champ is fine, hell that's better than 99% of the fighters out there and a nice recovery from the Prescott debacle, but if we're talking about Khan being some future great then that's another story. He's fast and has a very good jab. So have a ton of other fighters I've seen that never reached greatness. What else other than optimism would make people think that Khan is some future ATG?
No one is saying Khan has reached greatness already, the guy is still only 24yrs old and still has things to improve on yes. I guess only time will tell if he reaches the top P4P, but for now if Khan can beat Bradley looking good then thats a great start to that overall goal.
I'm nt big on Khan at all...I do agree that he has speed but I don't think he is the future of boxing (if he is then our sport is in a very bad state!)...he'll be an ok champ but never an ATG imo
yes i agree to that..it was his speed, faster than the Pacman ...and his focus is simply superb..outside the ring he tends to be an amusing, funny person:hi:
Im predicting this again right now. Donaire is going to wipe out fighters for the next few weight classes. JML and Gamboa, hes coming for you guys. However people should not be so suprised by the ko last night. Everyone needs to watch montiel vs johnson again to see how montiel could not deal with speed power and slickness.
